Default More S2TW modding because of Rome2 disaster ?

I was just asking myself if modders will spend more time on S2TW/FOTS.
Im not a modder but i play and love mods. In a lot of threads about mod ideas (especially total conversion ideas) i heard the same argument for the last 2 Years.

" everybody will love rome2 when it comes out and modders will wait for Rome2 because it will be a deeper game than Shogun2 "

Now rome2 is released and most longterm TW fans (mod consumers) hate it because of bugs, performance issues , broken Ai and arcade gameplay.

S2TW is the latest TW game which still has "serious" city governance, diplomacy, trait system and family tree. I guess those features are pretty essential to make a detailed mod.
I know there are problems about modding things like castles, shields etc. but i have the feeling that if the ressources / manpower would be as huge as M2TW modding for example some breakthoughs would be possible in the future.

What do you think? Will there be a Shogun2 Modding comeback in the future or will it RIP ?

I was planning on buying Rome 2 but after seeing the mess I decided to turn to Shogun 2, I plan on buying Fall of the Samurai and trying out all of the big mods that are out there.

I think the problem ist that to many modders are modding rome2 now. But a lot of them are not really moding Rome2, the are fixing it for CA.
S2TW is a finished game so here you can focus on implementing new things.

Look at Total War: Shogun 2 Mod Workshop, modding is not dead here.
We only begin to use CS2 converter from Assembly kit to create new equipments and units but we have still problems with buildings and Ships (CA provided an "unfinished" kit...).

Moreover, look at [Proposal] Imjin mod (Korea campaign) and you will see that ambitious mods are still being in development.

Note that modding for NTW and ETW is still very living too :

I am an active S2 / FOTS modder.

I mainly focus on FOTS and I am currently almost ready to release a "Traditional way" playstyle mod, where you can stay true to the "old ways" and fight modernization. (Staying true to all vanilla assets of the game, no units added and no crazy stuff).
I am not a fan of unit packs, nor of out of thin air inventions, so I set myself up with using whatever was at hand in the vanilla game of FOTS.

It was scheduled to be released last week, but as real life gave me a kick in the face in terms of workload, I have been delayed in releasing it.

It's about 98% done, and just needs some testing to make sure I don't microwave anyone's game.

    @ wangrin

korea mod would be a break through i guess. do you think there someday will be a complete overhaul mod for S2TW ? im asking because i think S2TW/FOTS is the most optimised TW game with Warscape engine so far.

    @ sakanade

For what it's worth, I recently bought ROTS and FOTS and have been playing FOTS with radious mod.

You claim Shogun II has serious city governance and diplomacy? Rome II must be really bad indeed.

I'd love to see more mods come out, but I guess the modding tools were released too late. There is so much stuff that could be added to the game to make it more realistic - especially new uniform parts - but I doubt this is going to happen.
    My Mod:
    Shogun II Total Realism
A realism mod for Shogun II, Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai

Gameplay wise, what are some really good FOTS mods. I think FOTS is way better than regular S2 or ROTS. I've been playing with Radious' mods. I like the tech and navy mods because vanilla naval battles are crazy and waiting forever to get tech is no fun. His overhaul mod has elements I don't like such as units that don't die, units that never route, too many different units that become meaningless because all you do is pick the best one of the type and ignore the rest. Low upkeep means you don't really need to strategize. A mod that somehow improves the AI in battles would be great.
