    Default LCD TVs?

    Hi,

Well as the title suggests, i'm looking for a new TV and i'm thinking of switching from a CRT to LCD.

Anyone got any advice on the the best all rounder LCD? I'm wanting a 32" or 40" screen.

    Thanks and all the best,

    FG.

    Advice: don't get LCD.
Get one of those rear projection ones, if you want something horrendously expensive.
Much better quality and they don't get irreversibly darker over time as LCDs do.

I love my Sharp Aquos 32in LCD HDTV. Its one of the better ones you can buy with better color and blacker blacks than most LCD. It has 6 inputs, 2 of them HDMI so can easily hook up your computer to if you want.

Well dont go LCD for such a big screenm LCD's are notoriously bad for ghosting and get darker over time, go for a plasma or a rear rojection one.

And perhaps this should be in the basement?

Sorry if this was posted in the wrong place, wasn't thinking when i did it!

I was told recently to avoid Plasma because of the 'burn-in' issues and cumbersome weight of the TVs and also that rear projections were rather big, suffering form bad viewing angles.

Anyone got any comment on this? Is LCD the way forward? Christ why does there have to be so much BLOODY choice?!?!

    Thanks and all the best,

    FG.

No, LCD is not nearly as good a picture as plasma or DLP. Plasma is a great picture, but has burn in issues so if you are tight on cash you may want to avoid one, I would however recommend a DLP.

I have had a SONY grand Wega LCD-projection tv for 3 years. Awesome, no ghosting, no blacking. Great for playing video games, and for sports and other HDTV stuff.

I definitely think it is a cost-effective technology-- unlike plasma. As for DLP, that option was not viable 3 years ago, so I don't know as much about it.

For the money, I'd say go LCD-projection. Regular rear projection have burn in and other problems that LCD projection wont have.

Get a full-on front projection cinematic screen, they're only a few grand nowadays. And you can get them in sizes big enough to cover a whole wall. Very good if you want super-immersive gaming , but you have to make sure you have room to put the screen before you buy it! Tend to be hard to set up though, but when you've done you won't go back
