RTW2 without guard mode, I thought CA said it was always there(auto). They also included a auto turn side ways, a feature not working in your video, perhaps it's a broken feature, or it only works with multiple units in a battle line, that's when I see it working.
Nice video. Clearly shows the difference.
Would you put this in their official forums? Because we really need this feature back for rome 2. I can't post their anymore, just got banned.
Sure http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...rd-mode-button
To clarify; in the last part of the video, I wrote that "Rome 2 without guard mode button".

Thank you now there will be more impact for those messed up devs who forgot to put guard mode in the game.
In Rome 1 the units in the rear also wait and don't fight. How else would it work? They push a little it seems, but they are not in active combat. In that regard, there is no difference between Rome 1 and Rome 2.
The collision at the begginig of the Rome2 clip showed how ridiculous the game's battles are compared to rome1.
One important point however, the game you are showing as "rome1" is clearly not the vanilla game. You may want to try demonstrating the vanilla games instead.
I think they tried to address this in one of the patches, they had the units stop earlier before impact(I think)so it wouldn't penetrate as far. Not a healthy fix in my books. May well account towards the blobbing, because I have seen individuals go right through a dense unit on impact.
To the OP, hopefully CA will take notice concerning putting a guard button back in the series. Although we have been asking before release I think. So perhaps there is a technical reason why they have not done so yet?
Yes but there was no attempt to go around the enemy at all from any ranks, plus did you notice how awful the unit behaved when they charged. Surge forward and fold into a dense blob when you come into contact with the enemy then walk backwards into a neat line, the units mass is completely messed up.

Thanks for reminding me how bad are RTW2 formations.

My God! In Rome 1, even without guard button on, the units still kept formation and they fought each other. In Rome 2, when the units hit each other everything turned into a blob, then the units constantly tried to regain formation while the first line where weirdly dying without any sense of fighting. This video shows how the Rome 1 battle mechanics (although modded) are working way better than Rome 2's. And whoever says differently is either blind or an idiot. It is a clear difference. I cannot believe it that CA has messed up this game so much. Until now I did not realize the actual low quality of battles but this shows it. The devs need to see this! ASAP! It is like they abandoned everything they did in the past and all that experience gained with S2 to become the laughing stock of game industry communities. Unbelievable!
RTWRM - back to basics
RTW looks so bright and smooth............RTW + the mods.....
