    Default Elefants and pikemen

Why elefants won't run over pikemens like they run over the swordmen? Even for the armoured elefants.

And why is it the same when you charge a piks unit from it's back? The elefants suddenly stops like it hits a wall. And the run animation keeps playing.

if you want to see elephants run through pikemen or hopelites play RTR, or some other mod which allows this, the thing going into the back i have no idea, never seen that before

the force of an elephant would break a wall of pikes or spears if the men are not well trained and could even break the more hardened ones aswell, well in the real world it would, troops would be demoralized by the huge beast and wouldn't hold their spear aswell

Actually, elephants would not charge a wall of pikes int the first place unless they got them completely blinded like the Carthaginian ones. :tacticalw :tooth:

    Now that's a relief...

EDIT: I'm sure that well trained men would hold their pikes against the charge because they knew that was pretty much their only way of surviving. :hmmm:

yes, but first time battles against elephants would break them, they have never faced a chargeing grey animal all the way from africa or asia before, i would like to see you hold a spear steady at one comeing at you

ok, they may not charge, but blind they would, and they could break a wall of spears

Theory: Spearmen reflect cavalry charge bonus back on the attacking cavalry. In V1.5 this reflection occurs no matter which direction the charge comes from. Perhaps the elephants are being halted by their own charge bonus being reflected back on them ?

think you hit it, elephants are classified as heavy cavalry in the game

So there isn't anyway to fix it? Yesterday i played another game where i had two units of elefants. Thats like 16 elefants i believe. They could not go trought the little men, poeni infantry and other carthage stuff.

I am playing parthia. I wondered why they did not get skirmishers, armoured elefant, and cataphract archer.

Yosemite. Sorry I dont know one. I play on V1.5 and I am resigned to losses when cavalry charge into spear troops..from any direction.
