Help request: Editing faction roster
Hi All,
Very new to the forums and new to modding here, so this post may come across as a bit noobish, but we have to start somewhere, right!
I've been tinkering around with the Pack File Manager for a while and worked out how to do basic things such as change the unit limits on the Spartan Hoplites and add other Greek units to other Greek factions. The problems comes with the latest version of the game; for some reason, I'm unable to save my little mod as a separate pack. When I try to, half of what I've changed doesn't appear in game. So running under the theory that I've not done something correctly, I wondered if I could get a quick run down on what I should do in order to make what is in my head translate into the game.
It's a simple mod idea: Add Thorax Swordsmen, Thorax Pikemen, Thorax Hoplites, Thureos Hoplites, Levy Thureos Spearmen and Companion Cavalry to the Epirus faction, and Thorax Pikemen, Levy Pikemen and Levy Thureos Shields to the Athens faction.
I know the rough process with which to go through to achieve this is to simply edit the unit_to_groupings_military or whatever it is, but as I mentioned above, it doesn't translate in game, or my changes are not saved.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or forgetting, and can anyone give me a quick bit of help? I will be most grateful!

Re: Help request: Editing faction roster
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-unit-with-PFM is for making custom units but you only need 2 tables to add one thats in game already to another faction and that is building_units_allowed_tables and units_to_groupings_military_permissions

Re: Help request: Editing faction roster
it may be that you have multiple mods activated, and another one is over-writing your database.
What you can do is use
Postprocess -> minimise DB files and then add a prefix to all of your tables, and it will load them in as partials, so they wont be overwritten eg.
land_units_tables
-> RRR_land_units_table

Re: Help request: Editing faction roster
Hey guys, thanks for info: I'll try to give more information.
What I'm trying to do is add several already Greek units to the Epirus faction using the Units_To_Groupings_Military (etc) table, but nothing sticks in game.

Could I be really cheeky and email someone what I have got so far? I would be eternally grateful!

Or just upload here. It only consists of two tables at the moment.
