Ok, I giveup today. I rarely, if ever, complain about a game and even less often post onforums, so this is about a first, but Rome 2 has to be the crappiest game Ithink I've purchased in years.
I loved theoriginal Rome TW, and have most of the other TW titles, and have additionally beengenerally satisfied with them after applying a few of the great community modsand/or tweaking them to suit my likings.
I've been afan of CA games for years and was patiently waiting for their RTW remake. Whata total let down it has been.
I prettymuch shelved it after patch 2 and thought I'd wait a bit, expecting it to getbetter as CA worked out some of their grosser bugs and more typical postrelease glitches.
Well, here Iam after patch 5 and the frigging game won't even load. Really... CA? Steam? Idon't even know who is at fault anymore.
I go andcheck my E drive and guess what? In steam apps/common the game is GONE. Yes,gone, not there anymore. WTH? So I check my boot drive and there underprograms(86)/steam/common is Rome2, but it is now all unpacked (not a badthing) and the file structure is different than it was before on E drive. {Iwas a sucker and prepaid and pre-downloaded the game. Yeah. I know. I'm a totalfool. NEVER AGAIN CA!!! You hear!? NEVER, EVER, AGAIN!!!}
So, I sighand reckon I'll try and fix this. I'll just copy the RTW2 folder from C: to E:.About 15 minutes later the task is done and I try and start it again. Nope,still hanging up.
I know! I'llcreate a short cut from E: drive's folder. Ta-Da! Nope, still hanging.
I try andstart from Steam. Nope, still hangs.
G-damn it!You bastards! Here, it is a beautiful crisp fall day. I have the window open tolet in the invigorating air. An old retired widower sits in his easy chair justwanting to play at reconquering the world as Rome, and you are flipping me thebird, again!
I decide touninstall then reinstall the game. So I go to my control panel, uninstallprograms, and, of course, the program is not listed! LMAO.
I suppose Icould manually purge it from both drives and Users and my registry but I'm justtoo darned annoyed right now to bother wasting anymore more time with this POStoday.
Back to EU4,or EVE, or DDO, or something that is actually fun. Rots-a-ruck CA, you'll needit. Somehow, I think a stench of SEGA lingers. Take a great game with adedicated erudite and mature following and fan base, dumb it down by strippingout many of the great features in the original game so kids might play it ontheir consoles, and then act surprised when you seriously disappoint youroriginal market base.
Yes, yes, I’msure you’re very sorry.
Such ashame, such a huge disappointment.
