And people say Islam is radical.

Now see, that's the kind of thing that makes me fear for the future. Thoughts, opinions, rants?

Ahhh....radical extermist Christians....that sounds so 1640s
The review seemed biased in the first place but I bet if I watched it I would have problems with what I would see. Some people are more aggressive when it comes to religion and some others aren't. I tend to not be so aggressive myself.

Freaky....if someone walked upto me and told me I would burn in hell they wouldn't walk away....these kids need a dose of reality...and their parents need a dose of jail time.
Yeah, I can't see that being an effective way of converting people. Like I said, too aggressive.Originally Posted by Aristocrat
That isn't a bad statement. I've heard that in a lot of different churches. It is a very bold and powerful statement. I actually like that one.Originally Posted by H&G

You might like it, but, it directly contradicts many of the "pro-Christian-anti-Islam" arguments I've read here at TWC. :hmmm:Originally Posted by Lord Rahl

Yes, that was quite interesting indeed.Originally Posted by bdh
However, if you watch the trailer and the other clips, you'll notice that the woman who says that line is basically saying that she wants Christian kids to act like the Muslims kids who are radicalized and brainwashed into terrorism over in some parts of the Middle East. In other words, she wants Christian kids to become violent in the name of Jesus and Christianity.
It really doesn't. It isn't challenging Christianity vs. Islam. It is challenging the faith of the kids at the camp related to the faith of Muslim children (which I'm guessing in this context is very high).Originally Posted by Honor&Glory

The point is that they are basically doing the same thing as Islamic radicals/extremists/terrorists.Originally Posted by Lord Rahl

Well, I watched the trailer. Some interesting lines:
"How many of you want to be those who would give up their lives for Jesus?"
"We're being trained to be God's Army."
"This means war! This means war!"
From one of the clips:
"I want to see young people who are as commited to the cause of Jesus Christ as the young people are to the cause of Islam. I want to see them as radically laying down their lives for the Gospel as they are over in Pakistan and Israel and Palestine....because....we have the truth."
True Christians? :hmmm:
Wow. You know, you could substitute only a few words in, and it would really sound like something said at a Nazi Party rally.Originally Posted by Honor&Glory
Like so (subbed words italicized):
"We're being trained to be the Fuhrer's Army."
"I want to see young people who are as commited to the cause of Adolf Hitler as the young people are to the cause of Bolshevism. I want to see them as radically laying down their lives for the Aryan Race as they are over in France and Poland and Russia....because....we have the truth."
A bit scary, ain't it? :hmmm:

... A lot of Polish, French and Russians were actually Aryan race...Originally Posted by MaximiIian
Well, the aryans are actually the Iranians, since "aryan" comes from Persian, meaning "noble". The point of that was the illustrate that the rhetoric in this "Jesus Camp" is not too different from National Socialist rhetoric, just with a different set of enemies and a different book. They have the same belligerency and empassioned anger within thier speechery. I find it frightening and appalling.Originally Posted by hellheaven1987

Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

So, are we going to see things being blown up and people being killed by these folks? Does this mean that mainstream Christians get their knickers in a twist when a newspaper in Iran portrays Jesus as a hippy and start burning Egyptian embassies?
How on earth can people still believe, that at present, Islam is somehow equally aggressive with Christianity? It requires a lot of denial and a lot of intellectual dishonesty. But hey, its the right thing to think.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.
