Default Official Mod Manager - Issues & Load order

    ISSUES:

    • No user control of mod load order
    • Mod packs with spaces in the file name will not be installed by the Mod Manager
    • Wiping the user.script upon startup rendering alternative mod control methods void

    LOAD ORDER:

    • My testing of mod load order indicates that the official mod manager currently loads mod packs in reverse alphabetical order. Mod packs starting with Z will be overwritten by those starting with Y and so on.

Anyone have a list of tables that are useable with mod type packs and those which are not.

Ive just tested Land_Units and main_units and neither would work with my mod type pack only with movie i was hoping to move my whole mod over to mod type pack after this patch but that doesnt seem possible

I am unable to replicate this issue with land_units, and I have not had any other tables not work as they did pre-patch 5 as yet. More information required (is it possible that renamed tables aren't working properly? I very rarely take the time to do this)

My mod that was working fine per patch 5 also doesn't work now... so many db entries that it will take hours to find the culprit. CA = 1 step forward 50 steps back.... I don't get how the guys who came up with such a brilliant game can be so stupid at the same time...

You'll have to extract the new one from rome2 data and redo. These are what we've been doing with every patches.

i tried with increased unit sizes in main_units both with renamed and original named tables, and the new sizes were not shown.

Tested land_units table with 1 unit value changed to 100 and not shown with renamed or original named table.

Tried both with movie format with the same table and worked.

Are other changes in the pack being applied even while these table have no apparent effect?

    LOAD ORDER:

    • My testing of mod load order indicates that the official mod manager currently loads mod packs in reverse alphabetical order. Mod packs starting with Z will be overwritten by those starting with Y and so on.
Prior to Patch 5, if you used PFM to include the startpos.esf file, any changes you made to it were fully compatible with other mods that also changed the startpos.esf file. However using the CA Mod Manager that is no longer the case. My Shorter Campaign Mod which only changes the startpos.esf was overridden and prevented from working by Radious Campaign Mod which also included a 2 turn per year change even when using a 2 turn per year version of my mod. I changed the name of my mod from Shorter_Campaign_Mod_1_3_2tpy to aaa_Shorter_Campaign_Mod_1_3_2tpy so that it would load last, and now both my mod and Radious' mod work together. The CA Mod Manager will not be a help to the modding community until these issues are resolved. In fact it's causing problems, conflicts, and a great deal of frustration. I hope this thread will begin to raise awareness that there are issues that must be addressed.

That they will. Good to hear that this isn't some totally new unknown though

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully by collecting all the issues into one location much frustration can be prevented and we can show CA exactly what needs to change.

Speaking of which, are there any problems I may have missed?

Those with spaces in filenames actually do work. At least Gustave's Carthaginian shields mod.

Maybe he's using a movie type pack? No mod I tried with spaces would load unless it was in movie format (because that skips the mod manager entirely)
