Game Not Starting After Recent Update

the launcher comes up, i hit play, i see the red Rome Total War loading screen, and then it just closes? I'm using Radious and the All Playable Factions Mod, i havent had this issue prior to the latest update, can anyone help me out?

Turn the mods off. I have the same mods and the same problem. The launcher has an inbuilt mod manager, so make sure they're unchecked.

make sure to have them unchecked in Mitch's Mod Manager as well.

I would also attempt to launch it with all of the mods out of your data folder.

i have deleted BOTH mods and its still happening

It is not the mods - I have no mods in my game and yet it wont launch at all. Steam verification found no problems either.

i was looking for a reason to start playing medieval 2 with SS anyway......what a god awful game release, how does an update from the company who made the game prevent people from playing? what a ing joke

I know , CA are really a bunch of incompetents , after the patch 5 every time I try to start the game the launcher pops up ...and it's only black lines,I see no buttons to click in order to start ???!!!! ...so blindly I move the mouse hoping that maybe I'll hit the start button ...but nothing despite the sounds that makes as if I hit the right button...the game does not lunch ... It's clear for me I'll never play not buy these series .. it's just f... ridiculous.

Happened to me, there you have to delete a file to unlock all faction in custom battles, you can find it in the data folder.

for me deleting the mod files in my data folder fixed it, unfortunately you can't use your save games you had in the new patch so keep that in mind.

yea i deleted all the mod files and it still woulnt work, i uninstalled the game and want my ing money back

deleting all the mods would only solve the ctd cause by mods. try running the game with admin rights. make sure you window account has admin rights and right click + properties to set it to admin also just to make sure. someone posted this solution and it works for them it seems.
