I had this same problem when I started the game up tonight. I had put two slight mods into my data folder (getting rid of unit recruitment caps and some slight unit stat editing). Tonight I kept getting the "Rome 2 has stopped working" error and it crashed back to desktop. So I decided to delete the two small mods from my data folder, re-made them then and there and placed them into the data folder and they worked fine again.

Make sure you don't have any mods that conflict in movie format in your data folder.

Also, make sure you have updated all of the tables with the new versions from the patched data_rome2.pack.

Hmm I dont have any mods that are in Movie at all and what do you mean by "Update" but if that was the case then why does it load up with the old Mod Manager but not the Official new one.

I am not sure. I do know the old Mod Manager would fix certain issues. Not sure if that is what is going on here.

What I mean by update is that when a new patch comes out, they change some of the data tables. The ones that have been changed will cause your game to crash if your mod is using an old version. For example, let's say they update the main_units table. If your mod made changes to that, then you need to import the new version of main_units and redo the changes.

Hanging on the Rome 2 startup page usually means that you have some old tables in the mod or a conflict with another mod. If you have no other mods, then you must have some old tables. If not, then I don't know why it won't work.

As far as the old Mod manager, that is really strange!

CA's mod manager seem to be a slap in the face to the modding community.
There is no point for a mod manger, and this new one doesn't work well with non steam-workshop mods. All these people donating to TWC. While CA is saying, no use steam workshop.

I thought we were making forward progress. This feel like a few steps back.

Just rebuilt the mod from the ground up using all the new patch 5 files it loads now but non of the changes take effect this is very rage inducing. Am i suppose to do something diffrant now in patch 5 like not put the prefix infront of the tables or something i cant for the life of me figure this out

The changes should take effect. My mods are working using the Mod type from PFM editor. I can't figure out why it wouldn't load. It has downloaded properly into your data folder and you have checked the box next to the mod?

    Otherwise, I don't know.

Dresden - how do we upload mods to Steam Workshop? I don't see any way to do this right now.

Put your mod file in the Rome 2 data folder. Then, put an image you want to use for your mod in the data folder (it has to be 256x256 png file and named the same as the mod). Now, start the game launcher and click on Mod Manager. Your mod should show up, click upload. from dresden
