    influence...

    what does it do anyway? some of my family members have a lot of it but i don't see the use of it? does it improve diplomacy or something? or has it to do with public order? anyway I don't know

    It improves public order and gives your characters more chance on getting a position in the senate. It may also influence diplomacy, but R:TW diplomacy is so random that it's hard to tell.

    , shame influence was wasted with diplomacy in RTW, well it does need improveing and hopeing it will be in MTW2

    Yeah, a lot of influence will come in handy when governing a province/city. Even if the character has little to no management skills, a lot of influence will keep the people happy.
