Default Update news - AMD drivers and Windows 8.1

Hello everyone there are new drivers out for all AMD graphic cards, even the older ones (Legacy) and also Laptops (xxxxM)

    http://www.computerbase.de/downloads...komplettpaket/

The download site is german but very self explaining. Woud be cool if you can report if this helps with Rome 2 performance. (Please run internal Rome 2 benchmark prior install and after that)

Additionally 8.1 is available in the store for free (big download). Seperate downloads for distribution (install on several PCs) will be available later at a time but are not currently, so painfully 4 GB have to be downloaded for each PC at the moment.
it was not possible to isolate the download for me :/.

I hope this thread is not moved in tech section for a while at least so initially we can reach more people with that news.

I am staying with win 7 for the foreseeable future. unless M$ releases win 7 version 2 or games stop supporting it.

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

I have an AMD FX8120 and an ATI 6970. 20 v 20 unit battles on High, with large sizes, and its borderline unplayable. I cant figure out why, Shogun worked great on just about any settings, and my only thought is drivers.. Any thoughts on how to make the gameplay better?

this thread is about the new drivers and Rome 2 performance. I just mentioned Win 8 on a sidenote and will not fire up pro / cons now

@REBEL4714 : I have the same card and the best driver 13.01 ...I<m not sure about your CPU if it handles it well cause I have an i5-2500K ... but me I play just fine if zoom out , zoom in same issue as everybody else FPS drops drastically. Try it , personally I play with higher settings than you do plus all AA activated from Radeon |Pro.

@nebucodonosor, I have 13.152 in the driver packaging and 13.9 in catalyst version. I promise I'm not a noob, I'm just wondering if its my rig or the game. Even if i tick unlimited video memory (I have 12 gb's of ram) still plays the same. Like I said, S2 runs like a dream....

Aren't those drivers old? It says September release. The Beta however is newer, but according to the other thread that discusses performance, the best you will see (if you are really lucky) is an extra 3-5 frames. Definitely nothing to do with AMD or nVidia. Game must be polished first for these companies to do their drivers well.

I have not installed any beta drivers, and according to the AMD website, I have the newest version. OC'd my processor last night, waiting for R2 to finish updating and I'm gonna try again. Thanks again for the input, I really appreciate it!
