Nearly Punic war-like ROME CAMPAIGN
haha. Funny the title but its true. In my new campaign as Rome, every turn since the start is very exciting. I think i'm still now at less than 30 to 40 turns. So here it goes:-well it was a typical start. Building the economy, researching military buildings for better tier infantry,etc.-next i rushed recruiting my first legion, nearly 6 hastati,2 velites, and 3 javs. Standard, i was on a rush to experience a roman battle (after my frustating spartan campaign after Geourasia party declared civil war and spammed 10 full stacks,i guess 15)-then i drew up my campaign plan. Simple, consolidate italian territory up to the narrow passes of alps by taking Cisalpina. On the way I was building client state allies, includes etruscan league and liguria. - the reason behind this client states,is that, as what i thought, a good preparation for war against carthage as i though if i declare war on them, my client states will automatically join,wc is not the case (it seems like its only for the satrapies of eastern factions.-delmatae sent a large force at ariminium, in a stand against my one legion. Another new legion i sent to iader, outwitting them, and taking them as a client state.-on the southern part,it was really interesting when Carthage declared war on Syracuse (who later on became my satrapy),taking Lilybaeum, sieging Syracusae. When I was sure already of having a strong navy (learning from the mistakes of First Punic war in real) i declared war on Carthage (with the epic fail of my client states as stated above, since i fear that the defeat of Syracusae will make Carthage stronger enough to be unchecked).-then i immediately sent a legion to aid Syracusae, and naval fleet to free the blockade. -the rest was epic, battles were fought. Since i have no territory in Sicily, and magna graecia roman territories were no good for higher tier units, i assigned two generals from senate as Unit Logistics General, bringing in Sicilian Roman legions with more units until they are full stack. There now was a standoff between two sides, syracusae and rome, against carthage and nova carthago. The stalemate is due to our infantry superiority in Sicily while thb later Enemy naval superiority near african territory.THE TIMING AND LUCKY SHIFT OF WAR TIDE-as there was stalemate, suddenly garamatia invaded enemy territories at africa. Their only remaining are the ones at Hispania, and Corsica w.c im about to take. They lost all their stacks except a huge navy near syracusae. That was really epic. Now im thinking how i wud take hispania of carthage and nova carthago. Sea route is risky, since that will leave italian seas exposed. Im planning to taking my legions through region sea side route, until towards hispania in forced march almost the same thing Hannibal did, only that this is the romans turn,i dont care now about diplomatic penalties. Hahaha.
