unit texture location
Does anyone know where the unit texture files are? Like say i wanted to change the colour of a unit etc. Do they exist?

Re: unit texture location
Do you want to change the color scheme of a unit as in the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors or actually change the texture of a model as in the .dds file?

I'd like to know this too. It doesn't look like they're in Models2.pack like they were in Shogun 2. I want to see if it's possible to successfully compress all the battle unit textures in order to lower VRAM consumption and improve performance without the loss of visual quality similar to what SuperGhostboy did with his Performance mod way back in Shogun 2 (Which is no longer compatible with the Otomo patch.)

Re: unit texture location
Well if you're looking for the textures for the models they are in the models.pack and models_rome2.pack. Open the variantmeshes then _variantmodels then from there find which piece you want so for instance let's say a helmet. Then you would go -->variantmeshes, -->_variantmodels, -->man, -->helmets, --> tex and they should be there in one of those 2 packs. If you are looking to change faction colors or specific unit colors those are both in the data_rome2.pack under db in the faction_uniform_colours and unit_variants_colours tables. Hope that helps.

Re: unit texture location
Sweet. Thanks for the info. That will save me a lot of time. I don't need to mess with the colors, so I'll just be looking at Models.pack and models_rome2.pack. Hopefully all the .dds files can be compressed in DXT5 ARGB without causing any major problems ingame. I saw a few .dds files that were like 13MB and did a test run making them 3MB with just DXT5 compression. Some go unchanged in size though. I imagine doing that to every .DDS, including the battle map and campaign map textures, would go a long way in smoothing things out if my theory is correct. But for now it's just speculation. I'll give it a look soon.
