Icon5 Upgrading my PC, how high can I run Rome 2?

So I’ve decided to upgrade my computer recently and I waswondering what setting I should be able to play Rome 2 on with my new specs. I’veavoided the game so far due to its numerous bugs, but I think that it should beplayable to my liking by the time my upgrades are finished (early Decemberprobably).
So with that said, I was wondering what graphical settings Icould play Rome 2 on with an acceptable FPS? I know extreme is probably out ofthe question but I was hoping I could get to Ultra or Very High with ultra unitsize on. The specs of my new gaming computer will be:
Sandy Bridge I7-2600 probably OC’d to around 4.2-4.3 GHz
    AMD Radeon 7970 (3 gb)
15 or 16 GB of RAM
    Realtek HD Audio Card
    And a buttload of freespace.
So how high do you guys think I can run this puppy?

its all about the cpu, at over 4.0 OC you should be fine... all the highestsettings, BUT every once in awhile the game might get lag with some combinations of land sea battles...
I am similar to you in spec, maybe a little faster, and less ram... and it plays nicely...

    I have the following

    FX-8320 (4.1GhZ)

    AMD 7870 LE (tahiti)
    16 GB of ram

I'm playing at 2560 by 1440 with basically everything on Ultraexcept for a couple features turned off (anti aliasing is off and some other feature I remember reading about that drains your FPS) .

Anyhow I get an occasional lag during battles but everything works fine and I have lesser HW then what you are doing and I'm guessing a ton more pixels to crunch so you should be fine. Of course since this is not a first person shooter I am accepting framerates that are probably below 60. I'm just saying I only notice a very rare stutter.

Make sure your CPU is the 2600k version (save a few bucks and get the 2500k, i have mine at 4.5ghz on air cooling). My set up is the same as what you are looking at there OP, i play on 1440p resolution get 60 fps average in the bench mark with unit details and textures on extreme, and everything else very high - ultra. Shadows on low (this is a super killer of FPS) grass on medium (also big killer), AA on, texture filter on x2.

See my rig below. It's ALL 3 months old except the Monitor and Speakers. YET SOMEHOW I can't play Rome 2 oh high end graphics. I assaulted Carthage (level 1 city, but turn 80 or so! - woo CAI) and was getting 2/3FPS after a little while. Have updated drivers etc.

I originally had all settings to Extreme, and got 46FPS in the benchmark (surely I'd get a bit higher than that?), but battles now can't handle Very High with 8k troop battles.
