Default Why is there so much negativity?

Every single topic in General Discussion is bashing the game or saying something negative about it. I mean, I know there are some issues about the game... but come on. Stop complaining.

    They need Albert Ellis!

    Or maybe David Hume!
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

Its always the vocal minority, dont worry. Who aint satisfied with the game will try any mean possible to make sure they are heard, while who still like it wont bother at all. When the game was in its hype peak, everyone who expressed concern was attacked, now it swings to the opposite side where whoever says he loves the game got clubbed down by the angry self entitled "vets" mob. I ve added so many posters in this forum to ignore list to count already -_-"

One that is measured and not subject to emotional extremes.

Not one which goes, "I'm not happy with this game therefore I will dummy spit and call it 100% rubbish".

Rational comes from the word "ratio" meaning to "measure".

So tell me me more then on how the american revolution would have been started if not for the vocal and determined minority of 3% of the colonists actively supporting it while 97% either not cared or simply swallowed all the crap the british king was pushing down their throats ?
Or do you seriously assume the 97 % of the colonists liked it and its because of that they did not spoke out ?
You crack me up...you still have a lot to learn about human nature.

"any means possible" sheesh, you are right man after this im gonna have to take a nap after my nefarious planning and stressful typing.

"angry self entitled vets" what does that even mean? not to mention i had to slowly read your post a couple times to get past your... English... if i feel "entitled" to a game that 1. works out of the box. 2. that didnt take massive steps backwards then sure im a bad person.

add me to your ignore list and i hope i never have to read your drivel again.

Because the game is extremely broken and people are telling CA what they want to see changed, even if it isn't likely to happen.

People forgot this is not their private CA bashing forum, yet they attack fervently whoever dare to say otherwise. I got my fair share of problem with Rome II, whats with 10 years of waiting, but I'm still playing it and find a bit of enjoyment here and there. Yet I cant find a quiet place on this freaking forum to actually discuss the game with the vast majority of new threads only to bash it. Worse, whenever there is a slightest positive sight, someone are sure to come to douse it. Becareful not to mistake "personal opinion" to "attacking whoever dare to argue against us".

Yeah, it was a gigantic let down, no way to get around it. Only things working/semi-working at the moment are open field battles. Oh, and did anyone tell you the game's graphic is pretty? I and my friend agreed the other day the whole 40% more budget went straight to animation and graphic team, hehe.

Whilst I would love to fully enjoy the game, even where you point out the game's graphic is pretty, even here I can find fault, I don't want to, but it's there on every battlefield. The graphics aren't even want I hoped for after spending alot on a new PC and monitor to fully enjoy it. The graphics have been cut back, the grass imparticular and trees etc do not imho, look as good as STW2's effects. The game is so poorly optimised that despite some(not all)inferior graphics it doesn't run as it should.
Several graphical effects have been cut/are missing from this game. My best guess is they were cut when CA knew it would run like a pig. Even very end rigs can have low FPS.

To the op, the reason is why there is so much negativity, again imho, is that so many players are disappointed. People often focus on what is wrong with something, as this where their enjoyment is hindered. What is right with it should be expected to be so, to a certain extent. If you order a barrel of apples from me and some just at the top were rotten and mouldy, what would you think? I could just tell you to stop complaining and just enjoy the good one's, and then expect to sell you some nice DLC.

If you complain further I could just argue that you can sod off as their are plenty of people who don't mind what I sell them, infact no matter how I treat the fan base they suck it up and beg for more. Next time I'll put a few more rotten apples in your barrel because your the type of customer I want!

It is often from the long term players like myself who are more likely to be unhappy with this release. We stared playing with the original STW, what 10 yrs ago? We have seen all the high's and low's in the series. We were, quite rightly hoping for an epic RTW2. They had the budget, they had 10 yrs of experience, they had truly excellent modifications of the original RTW to garnish a few ideas from. There was alot of hype, including how well it would run, how good it would look, and how good the AI is.

The AI, even after 4 patches, still can't use a ram. The latest patch gave the AI siege equipment, what happens at a siege beginning, the AI drops it all and runs for the gate. It can't even assault through a breech, it has to use the gate only, and when it does the whole AI army will impale itself on just one unit holding the gate, as it rushers for the flag, because it can't even see the unit that will wipe it out. Even my 13 yrs old son thinks it's crap that 10 yrs ago in RTW, they could get the AI to do a siege, and even use ladders and towers, ram gates, etc, but now they can't. You would expect it to be the other way around wouldn't you, I mean this is 10 yrs later in PC game development. I mean we can expect things to be have vastly improved right???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Perhaps I should start a thread in answer to yours, I think I'll name it "How come people are so easily please with such an inferior product, why aren't you insulted".

How can these guys lie and spread such tripe without any honesty nor integrity. Judging by all the comments these guys may have to stay inside for the next 6 months.

Why so much negativity you ask?

because this game is not AAA game. Not only that but it sure as hell doesn't feel like the next game in a long standing franchise!

This game not only doesn't meet expectations (which granted were probably high) but falls so short it's embarrassing.

bottom line Rome 2 is in sad shape, without mods. and do not tell me that she's worth a buy because of mods. No it is not

you want some examples OP just ask but im sure enough of you have read these threads you know the answers

I agree some of the attention to detail are pretty impressive but some stuff like eastern cities and their building models are pretty pathetic when compared to Rome even at the earliest stages.
Alexandria that was supposedly the biggest city on the planet at the time (yes even bigger than Rome until the very late empire period) is pretty much a collection of temples and a giant park protected by a series of walls.
and lets not mention the amphibious invasion of the harbor is less than spectacular... I mean why the hell do I need to land on a beach when I am at a freaking port?!

IMO next game, CA should try to model only part of a city instead of trying to cover the whole massive battlefield, only to scale everything down later so a commoner's PC wont crawl to render the map. They paid too much attention to details they forgot the whole picture, then got lost somewhere during game development process P/s: anyone knows why i cant open new paragraph? Tried editing all of my posts to no avail.

Well where do we start. The present state of the game I still cannot play.
    Why?
All the lessons learned from Shogun II were not incorporated into Rome II. See signature block. They lied stating that the game was ready when in fact it was a poor beta. We have one life and when I come home from work and want to play some TW, it has to be playable.

When people pay good money they have every right to complain, bottom line!
3K needs to have an Avatar Campaign!!!
