    Default New Computer Questions...

I've asked a few of these questions in other threads, which none were replied to so now I guess I have to make my own thread on the subject. I recently bought an HP 1540n AMD Live X2 4200+ with 2GB PC2-4200 DDR2 RAM with a 6100LE integrated NVIDIA graphcis. I have quite a fair knowledge of computers but I need to consult the ultimate computer experts for advice. I'm upgrading my computer for M2TW, which obviously requires a new video card. Which video card would be more recommended for my processor out of these or any other recommendations: Radeon X1900XTX, a NVIDIA 7900 GTX, or the new NVIDIA EVGA 7950 GS (the cheap one). My budget is around the price of these cards and i'm trying to find the best deal possible in Canada.

Also, what would be the bottle neck in my system? The RAM according to PC Pitstop runs obscenely slow, does that mean it's bad RAM or it just is losing speed because of the Integrated Card? The AMD Live feature causes my computer to run at 500MHZ-2.2GHZ depending on the demand on the system, will my games run at the fastest possible speed with the Live processor or at bare minimum for the game?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions...

Well the best bang for the buck right now would be a Geforce 7900GT or 7950GT. If you want to go even cheaper theres the Geforce 7600GT.

Well he did mention the Geforce 7900GTX, so he must have a high budget. A 7900GT is a good bang for the buck for high end cards, while a 7600GT is a good bang for the buck for a mid range. I did say the 7600GT btw.

Wow forget what I just said, get this:

Radeon X1900XT 256mb for only $240. About the same performance as a 7950GT but much cheaper.

Anything above the 7600gt is high end.

Which would be faster for and AMD chip, an ATI or NVIDIA, and would the fact the stock integrated card is NVIDIA make any difference to performance for either brand... Why is it that NVIDIA is so much more expensive on all equivalent GPUs. Are they that much better? Is $410 CAN. for a ATI X1900XTX a good deal, or should I wait until DX10 is supported (would that be before or after M2TW comes out?).

Processors don't matter for GPUs. Neither does the chipset. Unless if you are trying to pull a sli setup, of course.

Well it al depends on your current system, will your current system play MTW2? On good detail? I yes then hold out for DX10, if not then I suggest an upgrade. ON bang for buck, the X1900XT is only marginally slower than the XTX variant, but is a lot less, so go for it.

I just bought the X19OOXT for £220 and they can easily be clocked to get the X1900XTX speed.
The standard cooler is 'loud', so fit the Artic Aero II cooler, they are 8 times quieter and will help substain the increase clock speed!
You will need at least a 450watt PSU, at least 550watts if you plan on crossfire at some point!

It will most likely take a long time for DX10 to become widespread. So I doubt it is going to be all that important. By the time that it is, we are probably doing another upgrade.
