Thanks Gratzy! All the standard TATW 3.2 factions are there plus:

    -Lorien
    -Ered-Luin (dwarves)
    -Wildmen of Dunland

Although those are the only totally new factions, Gondor, OotMM, and Gundabad are going to be getting such a huge roster re-vamp that they will also play as new factions in and of themselves. I'm going to be putting quite a lot of energy into fleshing out the sparse OotMM and Gundabad rosters to give the eastern orcs a bit more flavor! Lorien and the Silvan Elves will also be greatly improved using content from dIRECT0R's cUt and other scattered unit packs. I'll also be adding some new units to Dunland.

I'm currently making serious headway with the Gondor Roster and will definitely be ready to preview their new unit selection this weeked, so stay tuned!

Looking forward to seing this in action.. Keep up the good work OSCAR TEAM
American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

A video of false chemical attack in Douma, Syria, which led to Western illegal attacks.

Below you will find the totally re-vamped Gondor Roster for OSCAR. This was only made possible through the hard work of Taro_M and his amazing Gondor Unit Pack (thanks for sharing it Taro!). There is also content in this preview incorporated from dIRECT0R's cUT, and Squeaks' DaC Gondor Pack so also a big thanks to dIRECTOR and Squeaks for sharing their work.

**Explanations of major Gondor gameplay changes are at the bottom of the post!

    Gondor

    Core Roster

    Gondor Levy Swordsmen

Gondor Levy Swordsmen: Men of Gondor cultivate their culture of war for many generations. The ever present danger of Mordor armies and other filth pouring into Gondor requires constant vigil from the men of the west. During truly dark times all able bodied men are drafted into service, if there is no other way to protect Gondor reaches. Among them are men that know how to defend themselves in case of raids, having been in militia, or having warrior tradition running in the family. When drafted, men with combat experience are assembled into separate groups and usually get first choice in armor given to levy forces. Though units of lightly armed swordsmen may fight in traditional gondorian way: with sword and shield, they are greatly outclassed by any professional troops Gondor can muster. However they can still be useful to cunning generals well versed in the arts of war.

    Gondor Guardsmen

Gondor Guardsmen: Gondorian guardsmen are levied militia troops whose main purpose is to defend the far flung outposts of their homeland. Though usually found in the less advanced territories of Gondor, they are prepared to defend any city during the absence of better trained and equipped troops. Technically, they can also be used to bolster the numbers of any active army. However, generals should note that these men are citizens first, and soldiers second. They will be overwhelmed by most regular army troops.

    Gondor Skirmishers (javelin)

Gondor Skirmishers: Gondorian scouts often leave horseback and proceed to fight on foot. In such cases they are still very able skirmishers. Like all scouts they are very lightly armored, armed with swords, shields and javelins. Lacking advantage of horse speed, that their mounted counterparts posses, skirmishers often come to face enemy in melee combat. However their light armor does not offer enough protection for skirmishers to least long in melee. Despite all these setbacks skirmishers are still very valuable addition to Gondor armies. They can easily harass enemy, man fortifications and move through terrain mounted scouts cannot traverse.

    Gondor Spearmen

Gondor Spearmen: Usually wielding 8 foot spears, these troops support Gondor's main infantry and are often placed on the flanks of a formation to protect against cavalry assaults. Similarly equipped as their sword-wielding kinsmen, they wear heavy mail armour, with the symbolic White Tree on black surcoat. Provided with a heavy oak shield reinforced with steel, they are well defended from arrow fire and close combat. These competent troops won't think twice before laying down their lives in the protection of The White City.

    Gondor Infantry

Gondor Infantry: The Realm of Gondor has fought numerous wars against numerous enemies. Their Lords are very experienced in the arts of war and fighting, and the citizens of Gondor are all expected to earn their keep when the horn of Gondor sounds. Most of the brave men of Gondor are trained as regular infantry, armed with a solid metal shield and a steel longsword. For centuries, the kingdom of Gondor has relied on the strong traditions of these heavy infantry. When the storm clouds begin to gather once again at the end of the Third Age, most of the Gondorian Infantry eagerly anticipate the opportunity of serving their country with arms in their hands. Armoured with heavy mail, they are the backbone of the Gondorian Army.

    Heavy Spearguard

Heavy Spearguard: Only the bravest and strongest of Gondor's men get the honor of joining the ranks of the Heavy Spearguard. These are some of the most Elite soldiers of the Kingdom of Gondor, always ready to defend and die for their beloved homeland. When called upon the battlefield, they tend to use long solid spears and heavy shields. They wear full plate of the highest quality, silver-colored armour, and a black robe, making them a terrifying sight for any enemy.

    Heavy Swordsmen

Heavy Swordsmen: These swordsmen are some of the most skilled troops in all of Gondor. Often used to guard important nobles, on the occasions that these troops are sent to fight on the battlefield they can completely change the course of any conflict. The corpses of Gondor's enemies will appear to be a sea around these warriors in combat. These men are the pride and joy of Gondor, and they will fight to their last breath if it means their lord's will is done.

    Winged Swordsmen

Winged Swordsmen (unlocked after re-uniting the entire realm of Gondor): The Guards of the Winged Sword, or Winged Swordsmen as they commonly called, are some of the most powerful shock troops Gondor can field. Armed with great swords similar to those wielded by their Numnenorian ancestors, Winged Swordsmen can cut huge swathes through an enemy's battleline. Though they are heavily armed and armoured, they still maintain a surprising degree of agility due to their intense training. Their richly decorated armours act as statements of their high social status.

    Yeomen Archers

Yeomen Archers: Gondorian yeomen archers are non-professional troops levied into the army during times of need. Given the current, numerous threats to Gondor's borders, they have never been needed more. Though most of them have some experience with a bow, the training they receive from the army is limited, and their equipment is cheap. Usually, these troops are assembled into large units to compensate their lack of experience.

    Gondor Archers

Gondor Archers: Although these archers are not as skilled as Elves, nor do they wield the fabled hollow steel bow of the Numenoreans, they should still be a force to reckon with. The strength and stature of these archers means they can shoot a Longbow with ease, even if theyfre clad in heavy mail armour. The armour means they need a longer time to reload their great bows and are slow to move, but they will stand their ground in melee combat. Armed with a sword and trained as Gondorian Infantry, they fear few enemies and are expected to fend off most attacking infantry.

    Gondor Scouts (javelin)

Gondor Scouts: Scouts are a important part of the Gondorian war machine. Though they would hardly qualify as capable soldiers, their sharp eyes and swift steeds make them invaluable to their lords. For them, moving across the battlefield is a simple matter. Due to this, Scouts can easily probe an enemy's battle-line for weaknesses. They also make good bait for ambushes, since they are extremely difficult to catch and are usually underestimated.

    Gondor Sword Cavalry

Gondor Cavalry (Sword): Horsemanship has never been the main interest of the Gondorian army. Often they receive mounted aid from their allies, the Rohirrim in the west, who are unmatched when it comes to the art of fighting from horseback. The Warlords and Generals of Gondor do however understand that cavalry is an important part of any army, and will usually deploy a unit of Gondor Cavalry when the need arises. They wear the standard heavy mail armour of the Gondorian army and wield longswords for close combat.

Many thanks for Taro_M's new Boromir portrait as well!

    Special Recruitment & AoR

    Wards of the Star Dome

Wards of the Star Dome (Unlocked after restoring the Dome of Stars in Osgiliath): The Star Dome for the most prominent building in the ancient capital of Gondor for it held the largest and the greatest of all seven Seeing Stones in Middle-earth. Night and day these vigilant Wards watched over the Chief Palantir of the Kingdom. This duty was no less honourable than of the Guard of the Fountain Court, and the Wards took great pride in their service. During the Gondor civil war, much of Osgiliath burned and the Master Stone was lost to the Anduin. After that, the unit was disbanded and its units incorporated into the Fountain Guard. Now with the restoration of Osgiliath and the rebuilding of the Dome, the Wards stand ready to serve again. Though the Dome is empty, and the resting place of palantir is covered with black silk cloth, the regiment is tasked with patrolling and guarding the city, as well as the Dome itself. The Wards are recruited from the veterans of the battles for the ancient capital, and have excellent training with long pike and sword. Their black and white armour and weapons are exactly the same as worn by their predecessors, and the Wards will allow no disgrace or unworthy deed to stain their legacy.

    Minas Ithil Guardians

Minas Ithil Guardians (Unlocked after restoring Minas Morgul): Losing Minas Ithil to the hordes of Mordor was always a dark moment in Gondorian history, so its understandable that lords of Gondor see the capture of Minas Morgul as a matter of great importance. This was not only as tactical goal, that would stop foul creatures of Mordor from pouring into the woods of Ithilien, but also as a matter of honor. It may seem odd that the smiths of Gondor are always ready to forge new armor in case Minas Ithil is recaptured, but in a way formation of the Minas Ithil Guardians is a tribute to last defenders of Tower of the Moon and their heroic stand against dark forces. Thus the new guardians of the fortress are recruited from the most able men, equipped with heavy armor, large shields and pole arms. Such equipment allows them to effectively fight in defense even against overwhelming odds.

    Fountain Guard

Fountain Guard (Available in Minas Tirith): Gondorian troops who guard the Fountain and the White Tree. They are not allowed to talk when on duty and they wear silk masks to remind visitors and themselves of the absolute silence. They are finest of Gondor picked from the best of best and led by the Steward's son.

    Ithilien Rangers

Ithilien Rangers (Available in all Ithilien Regions): After the Dark Lord Sauron returned to Mordor, the fair region of Ithilien was abandoned by its inhabitants. The Stewards of Gondor created the Rangers of Ithilien for both scouting and ambushing purposes. These brave men are mostly descendants from people who lived in the green lands of Ithilien before it was deserted. Masters of hiding in forests, they are perfect for hit and run tactics or ambushing. They wield their powerful longbows with great accuracy and have swords for close combat. Armoured mostly with camouflaged leather, they can’t be trusted to hold their ground against heavily armed forces.

    Citadel Guard Archers

Citadel Guard Archers (Available in Minas Tirith): Only the bravest and strongest of Gondor's men get the honor of joining the Guards of the Citadel. These are the elite soldiers of the Kingdom of Gondor, always ready to defend and die for their beloved city of Minas Tirith. Among them are many accomplished archers and former rangers of Ithilien who did not forget their skill with bow. They are sometimes grouped into small, separate units.

    Osgiliath Veterans

Osgiliath Veterans (Unlocked after fully restoring Ogiliath): For years, Osgilliath has been one of the main battlefields in the war between Gondor and Mordor. However, through the efforts of Gondor's men-at-arms, the city has been held. Adapting to combat in the harsh conditions of Osgilliath is a difficult task, and the cost to both sides has been terrible. Still, those Gondorians who survive the ordeals of Osgilliath are prepared for harsh conditions. Throughout their trials, the soldiers who fight in Osgilliath have learned to fight using multiple methods. They are equipped with bows, but unlike most other archers, they are also very capable melee fighters. Furthermore, Osgilliath Veterans have already seen the very worst Mordor has to offer. They will not even flinch in the face of near suicidal odds, because their lives have been an almost constant cycle of battles against innumerable enemies. While the skills of these men are incredible, it should be noted that they are not invincible, and that they are few in number. The loss of them can be just as catastrophic as constantly holding them in reserve. Without sacrifice, there can be no victory: such is the nature of the conflict these men have become used to.

    Master Rangers of Ithilien

Master Rangers of Ithilien (Available in all Ithilien Regions): Master Rangers of Ithilien are the most stealthy warriors in the whole kingdom of Gondor. They serve the kingdom of Gondor by trying to prevent Sauron from gathering and uniting all forces of him in his evil realm of Mordor. These elite-soldiers are experts at hiding and laying ambushes, which gives them the upper hand around the woods in Ithilien, where their hiding place is. With their enormous discipline and their bow skills, they can surprise their enemies and slaughter them in a split of second, even when the enemy outnumbers them with many. In hand to hand combat, though, they are not as powerful, but even than they can prove to be the decisive factor on the battlefield. They are clad in green cloaks and wield an impressive longbow, which they skillfully handle and use to deadly extent.

    Knights of Minas Tirith

Knights of Minas Tirith (Available in Minas Tirith): Gondor has always had a long and proud military tradition. However, most Gondorians prefer to fight their enemies on foot, rather than mounted. Over the centuries, Gondor has usually entrusted the task of providing cavalry to its vassals and allies. The Knights of Minas Tirth are talented horse riders, but most of all, these are men who are capable of controlling the offspring of the mearas, a breed of intelligent horses imported from Rohan. The mearas are known to be hard to control if there is no connection between the horse and the rider, a bond that is usually developed since childhood. For this reason it is rare to see Knights of Minas Tirth in battle. However once they arrive into the field they will crush enemies of Gondor with lance and sword.

Here is an in-game preview of Faramir leading a stack of Gondor's specialty army (units listed at the bottom from left to right):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Units (after Faramir): Wards of the Star Dome, Minas Ithil Guardians, Fountain Guard, Ithilien Rangers, Citadel Guard Archers, Osgiliath Veterans, Master Rangers of Ithilien, Knights of Minas Tirith

    Lossarnach

    Lossarnach Axeguards

Lossarnach Axeguards: Lossarnach is well known for being one of Gondor's oldest vassals. It is also well known for its proud, axe-wielding warriors. For the people of Lossarnach, the axe almost symbolizes their way of life. They use it in peace to fell trees, and in war, to fell foes. The Axeguards of Lossarnach seem to be better suited to the latter task. Though their equipment is good, it is not high quality. Still, they serve well on the battlefield as assault troops, capable of doing tremendous damage. Armed with an axe and an oval shield, the Axeguards often use throwing axes before charging the enemy.

    Axemen of Lossarnach

Axemen of Lossarnach: Lossarnach, flowered vales and fertile land of the White Mountains, brings fierce warriors to Gondor's forces. Warriors who are slightly swarthier and shorter than other men in Gondor come bearing great battle-axes and are well-armoured. They are a great unit for shock attacks and for bloody close combat.

    Lossarnach Nobles

Lossarnach Nobles: Some of Gondor nobles choose to fight on horseback, but that does not mean that all do. In fact, a large portion of Lossarnach's noble population chooses to imitate the nobles of Minas Tirith, fighting on foot rather mounted. However, the resemblance between the two noble groups ends there. While most Gondorian nobles prefer the sword and shield, Lossarnach nobles wield powerful two-handed axes. Of equal importance is their armour: which is heavier than that of any other troops fielded by Lossarnach.

    Lossarnach Hobilars

Lossarnach Hobilars: The Lossarnach Hobilars are part time soldiers, that are paid from the royal purse to tend to their horses all year around. In return for money they are obliged to respond to call to arms. However, in such case, they are provided with armour and weapons. Because of this, their equipment is same as other Lossarnach militia troops, but since they know they will be called to war, they have time to train beforehand. Hardy scouts and outriders, Lossarnach Hobilars are often the eyes and ears of Gondor's commanders, but they lack the impact of heavier cavalry. In battle they are armed with oval shield, a long spear and an one handed axe for self defense.

Here is an in-game preview of Forlong leading a stack of Gondor's Lossarnach army (units listed at the bottom from left to right):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Units (after Forlong): Lossarnach Axeguards, Axemen of Lossarnach, Lossarnach Nobles, Lossarnach Hobilars

    Dol Amroth

    Dol Amroth Guardsmen

    Dol Amroth Guardsmen
: The kingdom of Gondor has always received extensive support from the lords of Dol Amroth, and these troops are no exception. They are provided solid equipment and passable training in the hopes that they will hold the line of battle against cavalry and light infantry. The Guardsmen of Dol Amroth fulfill this role adequately, but should not be expected to overcome heavy infantry.

    Dol Amroth Men-at-Arms

Dol Amroth Men-at-Arms: Though Dol Amroth is best known for its powerful knights, its foot soldiers are nothing to scoff at. Men-at-Arms of Dol Amroth are excellent foot soldiers. Well armed, armoured, and trained, they can easily take ground from light infantry and most other, heavier foes. Though they are not the most elite foot troops fielded by Dol Amroth (or Gondor, for that matter), they can still efficiently deal with most foes.

    Dol Amroth Pikemen

    Dol Amroth Pikemen
: In spite, or perhaps because, of their powerful cavalry, the lords of Dol Amroth have assembled groups of pikemen for their army. Though these men are capable of staving off regular army troops, their true talent lies in defending against cavalry charges. Usually, when infantry are attacked with a heavy cavalry charge, they will suffer devastating casualties. For pikemen, the opposite is true. Any mount that is brave enough to charge into a pike formation has signed the death warrant of both itself and its rider. This is especially true when the pikes are being held by men from Dol Amroth.

    Dismounted Swan Knights

Dismounted Swan Knights: Sometimes the finest Cavalry in Gondor dismount to take to the battlefield on foot. These nobles from Dol Amroth are rumoured to have elvish blood running through their veins and wear the characteristic Swan Helm and heavy mail and plate armour that gives excellent protection in the field. They wield a longsword and the flexible kite shield bearing the heraldry of their homeland, the "Swan City" of Dol Amroth. They are a force to be feared on the battlefield, but are only available in small numbers so should be deployed sparingly.

    Dol Amroth Marines

Dol Amroth Marines: The Bay of Belfalas has known bloodshed and war at the hands of the Corsairs of Umbar for many years. To protect themselves men of Gondor raised powerful navy to repel enemies. While their ships do not match the navy of the Elves of Mithlond, they are crewed by hardy seamen, among them are marines from Dol Amroth. As most seamen, they wear light armour that doesn't hinder them when fighting on moving ships. Since most reliable tactic in sea battles is to set the enemy ships aflame, Dol Amroth Marines are adequate archers, and although their bows are small, they allow marines to fire faster than most Gondorian troops. The Marines are sufficiently skilled at melee combat as well, and they understand that on the high seas there is nowhere to run. In close combat Dol Amroth Marines prefer using a sword and offhand dagger instead of shield as on sea there is not much room for those, and additional weapons gives them an advantage over the enemy.

    Dol Amroth Archers

Dol Amroth Archers: Since Dol Amroth fields its own army, the lords of the city require the services of many different types of troops. Archers of Dol Amroth fill the role of skirmishers. These troops are professionals, and as such, they can be counted on to thin the ranks of invading enemies from afar. Their equipment is well made, and they themselves are accomplished marksmen. Still, their marksmanship notwithstanding, these men must be protected from enemy cavalry and melee troops at all cost. They will not last long in close combat against competent melee troops.

    Dol Amroth Squires

Dol Amroth Squires: Consisting of young men who wish to do their part in Gondor's defense, these novice horsemen are still in the early years of their training. They are used for patrols and police duties in the borderlands, but a good commander may be able to use them in more serious engagements, as they can prove to be quite effective when used to charge enemy flanks or to run down fleeing orcs.

    Dol Amroth Knights

Dol Amroth Knights: The Princedom of Dol Amroth is famous for its Swan Knights, but before rising to the Order of the Silver Swan knights must first prove themselves in defence of their lord and land. Among such men are the brave Knights of Dol Amroth that ride into battle at side of their lords. These knights are lesser nobles, and still eager to prove themselves against the foes of Gondor. In battle Knights of Dol Amroth fight from the horseback with lance and sword.

    Knights of the Silver Swan

Knights of the Silver Swan: The Princedom of Dol Amroth is ever ready to help their Lords of Minas Tirith in times of war and struggle. The Generals of the Swan City have long valued the necessity of Heavy Cavalry in their standing armies, and these tall and proud men are the finest knights of all Gondor. They function as both bodyguards for the Princes and Lords of Dol Amroth, and also as a vital part of Gondor’s mounted forces. They wear the finest armour the smiths in Gondor can manufacture, and even their mounts are heavily armoured. For weapons they use long ash-shafted spears for charging, longswords for close combat, and a solid cavalry shield. There are few enemies in Middle-earth that can resist a full frontal charge from these valiant Knights.

Here is an in-game preview of Imrahil leading a stack of Gondor's Dol Amroth army (units listed at the bottom from left to right):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Units (after Imrahil): DA Guardsmen, DA Men-at-Arms, DA Pikemen, Dismounted Swan Knights, DA Marines, DA Archers, DA Squires, DA Knights, Knights of the Silver Swan

    Gameplay Changes

** Lossarnach units will be added as overlapping units in Carasast, replacing specific units from the core Gondor roster (Axemen of Lossarnach will replace Gondor Spearmen, Lassarnach Nobles will replace Heavy Spearguard, etc.)

    **
Dol Amroth is a truly unique recruiting hub for Gondor, unable to recruit anything but its own customized pool of units.

** There will be two retraining hubs available to be built in Minas Tirith and Pelargir which will be able to re-train any unit in the Gondor War Machine.

** Gondor Bodyguards have been made into infantry units (in accordance to lore which states that the preference of Numenorians was swordsmanship not cavalry)

** Gondor Scouts (mounted) and Skirmishers are both javelin units, adding a new dynamic to the core Gondor playstyle

The overall hope of this revised roster is to provide a unique recruiting experience tailored for Gondor's history while also providing a more "infantry based" roster to better reflect the legacy of the Numenorians.

Final Note: We will hopefully also be including stratmap models (Denethor, Imrahil, and others) as well as unique Gondor Fiefdoms from Kili Al's Return of the King sub-mod, but due to a current inability to download the files it has not yet been included in the previews above.

    Thanks guys!

@lukaszcbc: Glad your excited for the RotK content. As part of my "Gondor's Former Glory" efforts I'm going to be expanding quite a lot of the scripts around Aragorn's arrival as faction leader. Once FireFreak has finished the final update on his map I'll be able to really get down to some scripting and hope to be able to preview some of the new unique Gondor events in a few weeks time.

    Mank great information.

I have some ideas. I do not know how much good:

It would be cool if you could achieve the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen Undomiel. This would be the beginning of the royal dynasty.

This Aragorn of Gondor should lead an army of the dead. On the path of the dead should start to return of the King.

Thanks for the suggestions lukaszcbc, they are always most welcome!

I believe that the marriage of Arwen and Aragorn WILL be made possible through content from Kilic's RoTK mod (on that note good news, we got a working version of the download so I'll be adding it in soon!) So basically a big YES for that feature.

I haden't thought about the dynamic for Aragorn and the army of the dead...could be cool and I'll definitley consider it. Part of the difficulty with that would be that the "Army of the Dead" feature that some people are now used to from MOS are units specifically made for MOS, so as of now OSCAR has no unit to use for such an event.

Mank, may I aks you a question about OSCAR, more specifically about you "Gondor's Former Glory" sub-mod. I think that, it was in the old "Lord of The Rings - Total War" for Rome - Total War - Alexander, that existed a unique AOR that, for example, when Gondor had a certain amount of culture I think, our something to that effect, that, for example in Harondor, you could recruit Haradrim units, such as Swordsmen or Spearmen, but as Gondor... Or it was the "Fourth Age - Total War" for Rome - Total War - Barbarian Invasion. Anyway, I was wondering if you are going to inplement the same thing in this amazing compilation!

    Congratulations on a amazing work

    Hi Kindjal83,

Glad you like the previews so far! YES, we will be adding this type of feature to the "Gondor's Former Glory" section of OSCAR. Basically the current dynamic will work like this:

As you re-conquer certain regions lost to Gondor you'll unlock the ability to recruit (some) of their units in the form of mercenaries. For example, once you capture all the lost regions from Harad you'll be able to recruit harad units from those areas to bolster your forces.

I currently favour the mercenary dynamic because it doesn't eat up the precious few "hidden resources" that are available for giving regions unique recruiting capacity. If we added these Harad and Rhun units to the main roster we'd be limiting the ability for future modders to build on OSCAR. A lot of what we're doing is trying to provide a great jumping board for other modders to add to, so we're tyring to be as careful as possible to leave room for community improvement!

This sub-mod is good because it is made by mank, if mank made it then it is good.

    Mank thanks for your answer.

Maybe instead of the army of the dead. One could add to the dead king's entourage Aragorn. Increased to the point of fear and morale of their troops. Maybe someone else will have a better idea of how to solve the problem of the army of the dead, is not copying solutions MOS.

    Good Question tree1212001,

No, not at the moment. We could have added in four Pelargir units, and (with permission) about 5 or 6 other regional units for Gondor, but I decided not to at the start just because Gondor already has a HUGE unit selection compared to all the rest, and I'm really hoping to expand other rosters like Orcs of the Misty Mountains & Gundabad. If, after all the other rosters are finished there is still a good amount of room left (there's a 500 unit cap for the game) I'll see about adding in some more of the available units for Gondor.

Remember, OSCAR is also intended to be a base for other modders to add to, so it would be quite possible for someone who wanted a few more Gondor Units to release a sub-mod for OSCAR once it's out!

EDIT: On the subject of Gondor, I've been putting the finishing touches on the new Gondor UI I've been working on for "Gondor's Former Glory" and will be ready to preview it and some of the new 2d art sometime this week!

Good stuff, but I would like to point few things out: for some reason you are using completely outdated design of Lossaranach Hobbilars, I dont know if its just the UI or model as well.
Also I noticed that Osgiliath Veterans will be available after restoring the city. It would be better if you used the "clean" version of my Osgiliath Veterans, they were designed with this in mind.
I also have my doubts about changing my Dol Amroth Squires into Knights and adding another unit. It dosent mash very well for me, as then new Squires are pretty much the same as mine. This also creates some confusion as you now have 2 units of Dol Amroth Knights. This may be just my bias, but this just dosent look right.

    Thanks for the feedback Taro!

Yes, Araval was also kind enough to point out that a few of the unit pictures in the preview were of the older models. This was due to the fact that I was experimenting with some of dIRECT0R's additions and simply forgot to change some back (all the in-game models are still your most up to date ones). I've updated the three older UI pics in the main OSCAR folder, but just haven't gotten around to hosting the new pics and updating the preview yet.

I will probably end up adding the "clean version" of the Osgiliath Vets for the restored city. I suppose it really does make more sense...I just personally liked the variety in unit appearance.

Hehe, yes I was wondering what people would think about adding a three-tier cavalry recruitment to DA. It was basically done because I'm really trying to move the Gondor War Machine away from using too much cavalry and relying more on infantry. I could very easily remove the "DA Squires" unit I added and just have the two cavalry in your pack, but thought an early-game cavalry unit from DA would provide at least a bit of needed cavalry support for Gondor. The unit card needs to be re-done that's for sure, but unless there's a more elegant solution for gameplay balance I'm pretty sure I'll stick with their addition for now. You're right about having two "knights" units in DA, I suppose that could confuse some people, so if you can think of a better name & description for the 2nd mailed cavalry unit I'm all ears!

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts Taro, OSCAR will only get better as more and more people contribute what they would like to see!

Personally I would leave gondor with a gap in the cavalry. You start with Light Cavalry in shape of Scouts, but I purposefully left gondor without non-regional medium cavalry. You then jump right to expensive heavy cavalry. This way the Gondorian cavalry becomes special and player needs to look for fiefdoms for more cavalry (I still have 2 or 3 cavalry units planned).

As for how to deal with lack of cavalry in early game? Well how about taking third option: a unit of mercenary rohhirims? They would be recruitable like normal mercs, by moving your general to rohan and recruiting them there. Elegant, logical and very much lore friendly.

    Rohhirim Free Riders
Often Rohhirims form free companies that offer services to the Lords of Rohan and allies of the Mark. While their equipment is not the best, they are still excellent riders, worthy of their fame in Middle-earth.

I think I would just use Rohan Militia models, but on horseback. Maybe without the shield, or at least random chance for them to not have one.
