Default Pack file load error - help needed

Right so I've packed all my db files up and launched the game, which in turn crashes on the splash screen. This has happened before so I go back and one by one delete scores of db files and relaunch after each delete until I find the culprit. I remove it from the pack and add all the files I had previously removed back in and what do you know? it crashes yet again.

Clearly, there is more than one issue (I have been doing some experimenting with unknown entries) and I know i should probably work with less files when doing this - hindsight is a lovely thing.

Anyway, the point is I was wondering if the is some kind of log or debug tool that will pinpoint the exact files that are causing the game to CTD?

I have gone into preferences.script and enabled the log but all it generates is a blank empty file (what's the fking point?).

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

I'm going crazy here and getting extremely frustrated, as this is the 4th time (due to the constant patching without - giving any god damn notice) that I've had conflicts appear and crash the game.

It's great switching your computer on to realise that overnight CA dicked around with some pack files and screwed up hours of modding work!

I guess I'll never get that time back...

I can vaguely remember when developer's actually released games when they were finished and not still in beta ffs *end rant*

No debug tools, and you'll never get any hint what is wrong and causing the crashes. Warscape modding 101. Unfortunatly lol.

Make backups and make small amounts of changes between tests and you'll never have this problem to begin with.

Thanks, yes I've learnt that lesson the hard way mate. Luckily everything is backed up I just have to go through the tedious process of deleting each db entry one by one until i find which are causing the problem

I will be doing things 1 file at a time from now on
