House Competitions 2012 plan.

Well it has been made clear enough that anything touching Content-overseen activities is a definite no. But I think it seems like a great idea to start off a quarterly House Competition just based around patronization, and then perhaps have a look into what might be added to it from there.

As for the CCT, I think it's pretty clear from here that an elected component of the body isn't that well suited to the Team's function. As has been said by others, it seems more conducive now to simply have the Curator appoint members whenever a project is proposed, and when volunteers present themselves to work on such a project. It's better to have a more flexible CCT with people on board who are working towards whichever project interests them, than something which kind of just rots in the background because it can't invent work for itself to do when there are no projects proposed, and whose members might not be that interested in what might crop up. The mandate of "do things" for elected CCT members doesn't seem to deliver, given how awfully vague it is. As GotR argues, there's no point in abolishing the CCT, but I think it'd be better to see it as one, or several appointed panels rather than an elected one with extra space for appointees if needed.

I'd like to help establish - for now - a permanent house competition which simply supervises citizen inductions and makes a quarterly tally per house.

Well that's quite a spin on things. For now I just plan to get all of the houses updated and post a quarterly review of their recruiting progress, with commentary. I don't see what there is that a house can be forced into here.

To me, it seemed like the plan was to have tournaments between Houses. After looking at the thread, Inkie so graciously linked, I also liked the idea of having a point system where winning a tournament would give your House x number of points. Furthermore, the idea of using the statistic results from already established site competitions to give more points to the Houses was another good idea, however that was where they ran into a snag with Content. I would love to adopt almost their same exact plan, but if the latter idea is to be used we would obviously need to work some kinks out with both Content and the Gaming Staff, that is if they are willing to negotiate something. If not, we can always organize our own Citizen video game tournament type thing. And as for which game we would play, it would have to be PC games (PC Master Race) that are free to play and/or games that a significant portion of interested Citizens own. An example would be a Total War game or Mount and Blade. Very few TWC members do not own a Total War game and there is a significant group on TWC who do play Mount and Blade.

Personally, I like this idea better than a gaming based competition. I think the competition should be centered around involvement on the site.

I have talked it over with other Hex and we have agreed that we would like to reach out to the Curia in getting the House Cup Competition off the ground and up and running. One of the snags previously was using the winners of existing content competitions as part of a points system. Me and Q do not see this is a problem and Poach does not have a problem with you using multiplayer or other tournament related stats. So you all can revive the discussion and try and get it going again.

I personally think the idea is really interesting and could be lots of fun. I also believe the Curia, and TWC as a whole needs something like this to help rebuild the community and forge bonds to repair any damage done by the prolonged time of server instability.

Indeed. The immediate priority is getting houses updated. Once that's done hopefully we can open a Symposium subforum as had been planned last time. Following that, competitions could go unhindered, now that Hex has graciously given their consent.

For the next three weeks I can't really invest my time in this project, regrettably. I have several papers to write. I could not work on it before because for the past few weeks I had to write like a combination of 60 double spaced pages, and after all that work I am a little tired of writing (that's what I get for taking three courses with writing credits).
During my winter break and next semester I can for sure work on this
