Default Total War: Rome 2 only recognizing integrated card

Hi, I've recently installed Total War: Rome 2, and after getting over the initial hurdle of the game not loading at the splash screen, I now have to deal with the fact that the game only recognizes my integrated card and only gives me 800MB of memory. I'm using (or should be using) a 8970M. When I entered the prologues the texture quality was very, very, low despite high settings. I've tried to find some solutions but to no avail. Could somebody give me a recommendation that would allow my card to actually be used?

go to the catalyst control center and assign the game to the dgpu

Where would that option be? I put in "high performance" in switchable graphics settings, but that still only recognizes the integrated card with 800 MB RAM.

Hi Hnim - are you running FRAPS or Afterburner or anything which identifies which card you're using? I have a 7970m (in a Clevo chassis) and R2 only recognises my integrated HD4000. I set "high performance" for R2 in Catalyst CC and ticked the 'unlimited graphics memory' in the video options on R2. I have to use a custom profile otherwise certain graphics options are greyed out. My 7970m is being used, though the graphics options will always only show the HD4000. So, in short, don't trust what R2 tells you in the graphics options! If you post more info on your specs that might help others spot issues which could be having an impact on the performance more generally.

On an unrelated note, patch 4 seems to have given me a significant hit to the frame rate on the campaign map. I had updated to the latest beta drivers for the 7970m but doing so broke Catalyst CC, so I've reverted back to earlier drivers. I haven't had a chance to investigate properly yet, but framerates on those older drivers with patch 4 seem a bit lower.

    UPDATE:
Patch 5 seems to have broken my gfx settings, unlimited video memory and most options better than high are greyed out. There is a possible workaround that I mentioned in another thread but I won't have a chance to test it until later.
