Icon13 Over a month post release. Still no Anti-Aliasing.

It's Shogun 2's release all over again. Completely ridiculous.
Both games were buggy as heck on release, both games had no Anti-Aliasing for months post release.
Both games ran absolutely awfully until a month or so post release.

You'd think they would have kept the improvements to the engine from several optimization patches and expansions to Shogun 2, since today it is actually a pretty well running game with proper AA and everything. Why did it all start over from scratch with Rome 2? I don't get it. It's like they took three steps backwards with the engine.

In pretty much every other game you see these days, sequels actually improve the engine, not destroy it.

No it doesn't! It has a setting allowing you to use AA...you have the set the mark(whether x2, x4, x8 etc) in you card's control panel...(ie Nvidia control panel)

The ignorance is strong with this one...
Dude, you MAY be talking about DirectX 9/ 11? Support for 11 came even later than a month from release. With every word you make it very clear that you have absolutely no idea what´s what in video games and their engines. Posts like this should get a penalty.

The anti-aliasing in the game is FXAA (Which is very ). We need MSAA anti-aliasing which is way better than FXAA (which is basically just a blur filter).

It has AA but I am sick buying alphas and betas for real money! The modders here make the game half way playable -for free - better work than a company --sad sad. C.A. its just about business making money feed their shareholders --- go that --- gaming is DEAD!!! ....from now on I will pirate everything gaming related! WORD!!!

Nevermind Anti-Aliasing. I can't play this game at more than 20 fps with a 3.5 ghz, quadcore i7 processor and a Geforce 660ti.

http://www.radeonpro.info/ Radeon Pro allows you to add quite a few enhancements including SMAA, FXAA, Ambient Occlusion and SweetFX. Ive been fiddling with it for a couple days and it has improved the games appearance.

We still need real MSAA. The shimmering is totally ugly, looks like an ant hill, everything is moving.

Op is right in saying there is no AA because there might as well not be. The MLAA in game is just essentially blur shader, it isn't really anti aliasing. It makes the whole image lose definition while making jaggies seem less apparent. And it is ridiculous, i literally cant play a game without AA so Rome II is on the shelf for me until it gets implemented.

lol. If you are so obsessed with AA, you might already know how to force AA in VGA's control panel (and I expect you to be able to afford a decent rig to run every newly released game with AA, since I cant with my mid tier 760GTX).

This, along with OP's claim are the most ridiculous things I ve seen on this forum. I get your eagerness to jump on the lets-torch-CA bandwagon, but you dont have to be this dumb, dont you think?

Well, Rome 2 only uses about 20-30% of my GPU so applying 4x MSAA would not make much of a dent. But what's really insulting is that they somehow removed MSAA when they transitioned from Shogun 2 to Rome 2. How the can you defend that? You can't force it via the control panel, stop being so ignorant.

The AA option in-game does nothing except for making everything seem blurry as hell

    Nonsense.
First, Rome 2 has MLAA which is a shader-based AA method. A bad one, but still AA.
Second, MLAA has nothing to do with NVs or AMDs MSAA options in the control panel.
Third, from DX10 forward, no MSAA can be forced...ever. If it's not implemented in the game, you don't have it, no matter what you set in the control panel.

In Fall of the Samurai and Shogun 2 we have the choice between MLAA, MSAA 2x, MSAA 4x & MSAA 8x. Why did we lose the MSAA?
    It makes no sense.

We're complaining about the lack of MSAA which was in the previous installment. Stop arguing semantics, it doesn't help.
