Default No error logs with Windows8?

I straight copied everything medieval 2 total war related from a laptop with Windows 7 to a laptop with Windows 8, same folder (C:/Programs(x68)/Sega). Surprisingly enough everything worked fine and still does, except I never get error logs when the game crashes. Not for any mod. There may be a directory path problem, though not obvious why. Would anyone know off the top of their head in which file is the directory path set for the error logs? It does not seem to be in my config files for the various mods - should it be? In which case, what might be the syntax?

Are you logged in as Administrator and unhid all files, folders, and drives in Folder Options?

If so, in Computer, have you searched for logs? Ballmer's kids added another security layer in Win8 and they could even be in Documents and Settings ala the old Vista days.

    Thanks for your ideas Irishron,

The search for "log" had come up with every second file in my computer and I had not bothered checking but the search for M2TW.system.log just found the missing folder in the Medieval II Total War directory, even though all folders and files should have been unhidden. They are obviously not, even though both at folder options and properties "hidden" files are unhidden, and of course I am logged in as Administrator. Not sure if there is something else I have not checked/unchecked or if this is a feature of Windows 8. Nevermind, hopefully I can now troubleshoot the game crashes with less frustration.

I would imagine this has to do with the new rules to disable UAC fully you have to manually change the registry. Otherwise, the pop-ups stop via the slider, but windows still moves and hides folders for you on Windows 8 and i assume 8.1 (though i haven't messed with 8.1 as of yet). Google it if you want to turn it off.

Since Gates/Ballmer released Vista, I find it better for TW games installed outside Program Files (x86). It seems to solve more than a few annoyances. Good luck finding the errors.

May I ask as to how you got it to work for you? I am trying to do the exact same thing and I can't get it to work. How did you copy it over? Thank you in advance for any response as I have no idea what to do.
