Default Thinking of laying away the game?

Ever since I have bought Rome 2 I found myself visiting this forum more frequently than before. The main reason for this is that I am desperatly awaiting a mod like Darthmod, something that will finaly make the game more worth playing. This is the first time I found myself in a situation where I dont want to play the game because it frustrates me, yet do want to play it when it has been polished and I cant wait to get there. Shogun 2, Napoleon and Empire may have had their issues but they were fun without the mods. This situation is especialy frustrating since you already have the game, know how awsome it could be, but it simply isnt and it might take along time for it to be as great as it was supposed to be.

In recent days the thought of deinstalling the game, waiting 4-5 months and then reinstalling it for the purpose of waiting for the mods that might be released then, has often crossed my mind. Adding to that, I more and more reject having bought it for the full price of 50 euros.

I would like to know if I am the only one who thinks this way?

Yes, from time to time I am thinking about playing Empire or Shogun 2 rather than another round of Rome 2...

You have one on the same boat here.

I was going to create a new thread, "When you do think ROME II finally becomes engaging and enjoyable?"

I can only spend a few turns, and a few battles then alt-tab. I find myself playing the game while listening to John MacArthur, coast-to-coast AM, etc. where I am just using the game as busy-work.

For us who play this titles and wait almost 10 years for this game, this realize was a shock, mainly after fots, who was a very reasonable game. CA dumb dow this game to a indecent level, they simple assume that their customers are some kind of brain dead. I started several campaigns after each patch, but the main problems still there, when i saw Carthage as a Turdetani city after 20 turns,or saw dozens of armies take a maritime tour,or after fight a blob battle,I ask my self what kind a guys make a game like this, and who they aim, kids with ten years? If so ,Im out from now on.

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.

It's alright, they told you what to dream.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

Maybe because we grew older since R1TW, but the game it stayed the same : designed for kids. Especially today kids that can't focus on something if it seems too slow. I don't know, I'd actually like to understand what happened with this game.

Hey, I was already married with children when Rome 1 was released (actually, my daughter was born nearly six months before Shogun 1 was released...), so not a "kid" anymore exactly

I have played about 50+ hours, but thats only a fraction of what I thought I would play. I haven't played at all for about a week. Rome II is getting better and I trust it will get better still. That doesn't mean I am content to spend my freetime as a beta tester for weeks on end.

I simply cannot enjoy the campaign game at the moment, knowing that I might have to start over next week and that it isn't quite as good as it will be after the next patch (and the next mod). So at the moment, I'm better off doing something else than playing Rome II. I'll propably continue reading Herodotos' The Histories and hope for a better gaming experience in the near future.

I deleted Rome 2 last week after 16 hours of frustrating, unfulfilling play. That's right: I played 16 hours in the month that I had it installed. For comparison's sake, I have nearly 300 hours in Medieval 2 and probably twice that in the original Rome. I still play both. In Empire and Napoleon, whose combined cost for me was half that of Rome 2, I have a combined 170 hours. And so on and so forth. The point: Rome 2 is not a fun game. It's an arcade-style title with a lot of problems.

This game was released in beta, and I doubt that it'll genuinely proceed beyond that stage. More, CA reinvented the wheel in inept fashion, for no reason, and in ways that will be difficult or impossible for any mod to undo.

I played the multi-player in the beginning, however I have not played for going on two week now. Waiting for all of those issues to get resolved.

The only issues I have with Rome 2 are purely technical. Which are being fixed, so that's good.

I played Rome 1 quite a bit and... Rome 2 doesn't play much differently. Only there's no more meatgrinder in siege battles where I've already won, but since everything gets unbreakable morale, I'm forced to sit around and twiddle my thumbs until they all die to the last man. Rome 2 has been a huge improvement over Rome 1. I still prefer Shogun 2, but that's just because the Classical Era is not something I care that much about. I much prefer Japan, or the Medieval era.

I'm quite happy to look forward to Medieval 3.

No! The aging is not the problem. And I can prove it. I have mentioned that in other topic some time ago. I really enjoyed Civilisation 2. It was great game for me. It was relased 1996. I loved that game. Now I bought Civilisation 5 and I must say I love it too. Soo I loved Rome 1. Now I dislike this poor attempt named Rome 2. I thought: Hmm you just got older my friend, lets face it. TW game is not for you anymore. But when I realized that Civilisation stuff, I got it. Its definitely not problem in my head. Its definitely just poor, amateur, idiotic and cretenic made game. Why cretenic? Because they think FRAKING TORCHES THROWING NOT LONG ENOUGH IS THE ONLY PROBLEM of this rubbish!!!!
Very good rocking song. The message of the song: WHEN PEOPLE LEARN TRUTH ABOUT UKRAINIAN WAR, THEY WILL GO INSANE!! (I suggest to turn the english subtitles on. Its over 18only because of violent pictures) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AAR6nUV7VI

Played around with the game for two weeks (50 hours), then canned it. Shouldn't have wasted more than a day on this game, but I love total war. Just not this installment.

Sad but true. If they fix the game, really fix the game, then we'll be lucky if its only 4-5 months. Be warned though, the sooner CA can say the game is 'fixed' the sooner they'll start rolling out the paid DLC, The game has a long way to go to be 'Fixed', and trust nothing CA says.

there are enough mini mods in the mods forums to make the game somewhat enjoyable. but they can't improve the performance of the game. rome 2 is on hold till their statement of "rome 2 will come with extreme scalability" becomes a reality. I am about to buy a 290x in preparation for witcher 3 4.5ghz ivy + 290x would probably last me the next 10 years if I continue gaming on 1080p. 1440p would force me to upgrade my cpu in the future.

No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure.
