    Default RTW vanilla folder

I want to experiment a little with some things and I can't re-install the game at this point, so I only have the RSII version, so I was wondering if someone can tell me which of the folders exist in the original game (with BI and alex) so that I can copy paste them into a new folder and try out some new mod combinations...

If you could perhaps post a picture.... Thanks in advance!

    Folders:
    alexander
    bi
    Data
    Docs
    Miles
    saves
    temp
    tgas

    Files:
    alexander (icon)
    gamespy (icon)
    icon (icon)
    mss32.dll
    RomeTW.exe
    RomeTW-ALX.exe
    RomeTW-BI.exe

Though I think that RS modifies at least some of the files in at least some of these folders...

I'm afraid RS2 is a FULL modification of RTW...meaning, there are few files in this game we didn't alter somehow.

Your best bet would be to create a folder called 'RS2' or something, and move the whole RS2\RTW install into that directory (I'm assuming you don't have Steam, or are not using it for RTW). Then, bring up 'Regedit' by typing it into the 'Run' line in the Start menu, and do a search in the registry for 'Creative Assembly'. Delete all of the keys that have that name. This will allow you to reinstall RTW\BI. Once you've done that, copy the whole Vanilla folder to a safe place..even a thumb drive, and keep it there. Any time you want to install a new mod, pull out your thumb drive, copy the 'pure' Vanilla install into another folder named 'SPQR, RTR7, EB...' or whatever, and install those mods in there. As long as you have RTW properly installed, you can run as many different RTW folders as you want. I have like 20 of them....more like thirty.

One of the best investments I think any RTW/RSII/et al fan can do is buy the Gold Edition disks. Having them is so worth it.

The second best is then to keep an older PC going just for RTW/RSII and use it as a 'standalone'. WinXP SP3 - and nothing else, bar a few old drivers......
