Opted for Patch 4.0 and Battle AI is still terrible

So fight a battle at a river, enemy sets up his forces at a crossing, my forces are at the bridge. Enemy outnumbers me 4:1. Start the battle, enemy crosses the crossing while i cross the bridge, result is the armies have swapped sides of the river. Whoever the enemy can't find me at first and goes far from the river before the choosing to approach me at the bridge, where i have set up my forces in a bottleneck. Then, the enemy stops and somehow cannot cross the bridge to attack. It just stands there under my fire allowing me even to cross the bridge with my javelinmen to come few meter from his forces to fire. I win suprisingly. So the true question is, is there any hope?

my Empire and Shogun 2 experience tells me that there no hope, not even a bit of hope.

Also they had 5-6 year to make AI on Warscape. Have they at least tried? I dont think so

So my conclusion is that you need to save a hope for next TW game. This one is completely dead.

i dont know if you should trust what ^he says Dumanthis, he's been banned from the official forums for CA/SEGA bashing so may have an agenda.

I was banned because I told them in a face that they are scammers and liars. However they move all critical topics to rant and raves and ban all people who say critical facts.

Yeah thats why we have TWC. im never permantely on the .com, despite this being the first time i have ever spoken agaisnt CA, im that much of a fan.
I actaully really liked empire, maybe its because i saw rome for all its faults and had fun with it also, maybe its because i remember mtw, how awesome that was.
But i don't expect a game from them to have AI as bad as it was on release..its just not on at this point.
Rome II is two steps backs for every step forward.

Anyway, its their corporate website and they can do what they want. IF they do something in the interests of company image, its up to them. Including banning you :-)

I'm in the same boat as you, people keep saying that the releases for med 2 empire and shogun 2 were really bad but I played them and enjoyed them, hell i managed to finish a campaign or get really really powerful before i gave up because I had already won and the AI didn't know it yet. I don't know if it was because I was younger but I cant remember me every saying screw this game it is just broken and stupid before playing rome 2. I don't know why the AI is as broken as it is, I won't say mad because I have seen it do some great things so I am just hoping that it is all the bugs and other crap that is making the AI seem crap. If it isn't and the AI is actually as bad as it lets on then what the hell are they doing in that office.

So you are saying that the bridge battles weren't even meant to be fixed in the patch 4.0? This is simply outrageous since the bridge battles have been around the series for ages, plus considering the amounts of rivers and crossing places on the campaign map and them being one of the most best strategic defensive position. Man I feel old and sad.

Join the club, although I never went that far. I was just persistence in asking for a non Steam option for Empire. First they removed my titled (saying I was not acting in accordance with membership!), then when I still persisted, they banned me- permanently. That`s it. Those were the days when CA had just adopted Steam and no one had dare speak against it with any logic persistently or you`re out. I was quite a well known titled member of many years. I guess I failed to understand that being a member meant you have to tow the communist party line, even if you saw something that you felt was ethically wrong. I would never have agreed to join in the first place if the downside was I must agree to whatever CA does! It was my first true bloodying on the forums and a shock.

I used to give out advice and everything in those days. I don`t respond well to unethical and bullying. But get me on the right side and I am a loyal friend (as long as you don`t become a hitler and expect me to do anything unethical).

Oh yea and I`ve seen AI get stuck at the bridge too. It`s in my thread about broken sieges. When the AI tried to cross the bridge, most of them got stuick on the far side until I had to quit.

Yea, it`s broke still with 4.

Even if you stand next to a bridge the chance to get a bridge battle is quite low
