    TheDuBMod

    Superior Campaign AI... Superior Challenge... Real TOTAL WAR



    PHILOSOPHY

    The general idea of this Mod is that the default game A.I. should do what was intended (and not happening) and provide some kind of challenge - a 'Total War' challenge, because nobody plays Total War games for civilization-building and technology research mechanics (lolz). I've noticed that the Vanilla AI generally doesn't have sufficient funds to do much at all. By giving the AI Economy and Research bonuses, we can then instruct the AI not to construct those types of buildings and instead focus on Military. Similarly, the AI doesn't seem to have enough foresight to defend itself properly- thus higher recruitment capability. And these principles prove valid.

    If you play Rome 2 using TheDuBMod, I guarantee at some point that you'll eventually need to use stacks of troops to counter their stacks- but just how soon and just how bad is based on Difficulty level. You will also need to stack unit recruitment Morale bonuses (such as from Training Fields and Temples of the War gods) in your provinces in order to stay competitive on the battlefield. I wouldn’t necessarily call it spam because Total War has always been based on this wholly battlefield-dependent style of strategic warfare... in other words, you have to get good at the game instead of easy cruise control on the hardest settings- sorry! It would be nice if the AI was able to function outside of this, but alas it is not…

    This is the era of TOTAL WAR: no more self-limitation, no more roleplaying BS (unless by choice)... This Mod is NOT for players who think Total War games are difficult… I hope you like tactical and predatory behavior in your AI!

    This sounds like a great mod! I'll wait until Rome 2 is out of the woods first.. I'll wait until the last of the major patches are done before I apply ANY mod.

    Best mod yet, hands down. I haven't found Rome II to be challenging and fun until I installed this mod. Thanks!

    If everything is "militarized", can AI handle the food problem? Or those hufe armies will starve to death as in vanilla?

    Interesting. I suppose your Campaign-AI mod would work with the Close Combat Battle Mod?

    Just got my ass kicked by a full stack of etruscans the first 4 turns ! The AI builds armies super fast but I noticed slingers are back

    Thanks for the quick comments everyone...

    Massive Attack, Radious should be fine as long as you don't use his 'AI' with my Campaign AI (pretty much meant as replacement) but the only thing diff that I've seen in one of his latest versions is he adds some diff balance to diplomatic stuff (and of course, his AI military Aggression and other stuff is tame compared to mine).

    Nekonoko, yes there is a +5% extra food (highest even given by devs) in all construction paradigms on this, even tho a good deal is 'militarized' so yes. I believe I took away economy it doesn't need because of flat cash aka subsistence to compensate.

    Bad Devil, it is currently version 13 which means standard patch 1.3... but I am thinking of getting the beta patch 4 out version out asap

    Billydilly, yes I just checked and Close Combat would conflict with my 'Battle AI' but DEF not the 'Campaign AI' which is why I separated

    Sorry if the download links don't work... it was 'attachment' in the forums... I had a feeling that was sketchy... hold on I will get some decent hosting going

    This sounds promising. And what is great, in my opinion, is that you only do one thing and that's the C/B-AI.

    T'is true I actually am going for minimalist (adjusted Vanilla) on purpose, esp because the game was intended a certain degree as it was....says lazy guy who doesn't want to do cool graphics art ;o)

    So is there any difference between difficulties recruitment wise? So is hard much harder then normal? I played both normal and hard on vanilla and they are about the same difficulty.

    Land Recruitment for AI starts at 10 :O) and goes up by 2 up to 16... so that's 1/2 a full stack on the Easiest Setting...

    I feel ya on the vanilla 'difficulty'... thus TheDuBMod ;o) because I know its soooo cheesy to just give the AI all these bonuses, AND YET that's the game and without the ramped up difficulty the game is so much less...

    OK... I have some files hosting links up and working for now

    Yeh well i just want to get owned in a campaign. That would be nice!

    Edit: Just played for 45 minutes with campaign ai on beta patch 4 as Carthage and the ai is giving me a toweling. Rome is ultra aggressive and i am at war with alot of factions. This is like a leap up in difficulty from legendary even on normal.
