Default So how do I make my personal changes take effect in the vanilla version of Rome 2?

I made some changes to unit stats in the "land_unit_tables" inside the "data_rome2.pack" however my changes do not take effect in game after saving them.

Could someone shead some light on why this is? When I edited Radious mod unit stats those did take effect in game however with the vanilla version they dont.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I would advise against making changes to the basic game files, mainly because they are overwritten when patched.

Here is a basic tutorial on making a small mod: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...e-Game-Editing

Thanks for this post, I would also like to know how to simply edit my vanilla game. I have done the steps in Dresden's link but in order to edit unit stats, it seems those steps there will not work. That being said, I have the brain of a chimp and may be doing something wrong.

What table are you trying to edit?

The basic idea of a mod is to first extract the table from the data_rome2.pack file that you want to edit. Then, you import that table into a new .pack file and edit the values.

You then put that pack file into your Rome2/data folder. If you aren't using Mod Manager, make sure to make the pack file a Movie format file.

All of that is doable in PFM.

I was trying to edit the land units table. Is there a way to extract the entire thing? If I remember right, when I tried to extract all, i ended up with a bunch of errors.

Sorry to steal this guys thread, but.. I have gotten a mod made, now when I do a quick test edit, my changed are not reflected in the game. now, when I go back and look, it appears that my changes are not being saved. I have re saved them and still, my changes are blocked in red. what is it that I am doing wrong?
Btw, I am using the mod manager to load the mod as well as launch the game.

It's not a problem on your end. There is a temporal problem that Lusted told us about with the order the game reads the mod packs. So, you have to use a new tool made by Daniu to change your pack's "priority" or something similar. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...diate-Mod-Type
