No matter if we like the way units in this game fight (no fire at will ) or not the greatest issue of this game is CAI and BAI.
In the last evolvement of DV's (Shogun 2) CA members tried to convince us that everything DV did was actually a lie despite the players statements that DV's changes changed dramaticaly the game performance in BAI and CAI.
Many members believed CA members accusations over Darth Vader's work and most not...
The fact is that those that accused DV that did actually nothing in previus TW games were responsible of BAI and CAI of this damn game that is called Rome 2!
What we have here?
Factions that never expand (Ex: Masilia), Factions that can not deside which buildings and armies fit for them each time to survive and expand.
Factions that attack with weak armies -one at the time- instead of gather all their armies against a target espesialy when its their last chance to continue exist as faction (their last city that recently oqupied).
In the battles them selves:
We have AI armies that can not use siege engines like ladders, turtles and rams. In 99% of the cases theyr simply stay and watch the city until time runs out.
When AI has "heavy" artilery they bomb the city walls but instead of ussing that breach to enter the city they attack to the unharmed gates with torches!!!!
AI armies charge with no "plan" against the players lines , no attempts of flanking, no attempts of volleys from safe distance no "everything".
While in defence AI just keeps watching players armies to suround them with out respond to those moves even when the have clear number and quality superiority (this last one very rare).
When a settlement has three points of victory ,Palyers have to win one of them in order to take the city..
I though -from CA's videos that those points were used for AI and Players to retreat in an other side of the city to gain time and regroup and force the invadors to charge to the next point if they want the city....
Player's units AI:
A player deploy's his army to a x formation...AI enemy has contact (melee combat) with some of his units.
Lets supose that player has a line of three units and enemy attacks the middle one.
While "stand ground" is automaticaly placed on every unit (CA statement) player must order one or both of the other unist to engage as well with the enemy.
So far so good.
Enemy attacks to one of the side units forcin it the engage with the new opponets (rarely happens) and player sents his general to help the middle unit that is under preasure.
Enemy valuates the threat and engages General's unit and leave in peace the unit that was fighting against few secs ago.
That unit stands and watches his general dying despite the fact combat is still in its ranks (not some meters away from its last soldier).
Concusion.....
Bring back DARTH VADER in a hope that we will see a game worthy of playing ....
