Please cast a truthful vote and give your opinion please let CA know the truth.

I mean truthfully if you want my opinion i would say that if creative assembly had worked on the game for another year or two and added a mass of extra features compared to Total War: Shogun 2 i think Total War: Rome 2 would of sold hundreds of millions.

Creative Assembly need to focus on Total War: Empire 3 now IMO once they fix Total War: Rome 2.

    Cheers!.

They could`ve, made the game great, made a great ad campaign to inform people truthfully and gained much now and even more later.

Instead they chose to make a shoddy game then lie like crazy. What good is it making a massive profit now, but most of the people who bought into it now hate you? What benefit is that?

No, game sales are based on marketing (amazing for this game) and existing fan base (gets bigger with each game).

The game has sold really really well, weather it will continue or not remains to be seen, but i expect the usual continuation of sales all TW games have had so they are in good stead.

e- also this games niches is rather small in the scheme of things.

No, not by a lot, because there was a lot of hype and good reviews. By the time everyone figured out what was wrong it was too late.

What it does do is alienate the TW fanbase and destroy their reputation. This game was IMO a much bigger failure than Empire because it had more to work with and delivered on fewer of its promises.

There's no way I'm buying another TW game if this game doesn't get fixed.

Yes, over the longer term. In the short term the game will sell well and preorders will be high due to aggressive marketing. However after release when company's no longer need to do such aggressive promotion, if the product is good it will continue to act as it's own marketer through word of mouth such as YouTube let's plays, user reviews, forum recommendations, etc. However if the game is not good, the preorder and short term sales might be as just as high, but in the long term sales will suffer because of negative word of month promotion.

The question is whether or not the difference between the additional costs of spending more money in development to improve the game is recouped according to the long term profit of the game. It may be cheaper to focus on the short term model (eg. Your typical CoD game) as opposed to the long term model (Elder Scrolls, for example, who have a major release every 3-6 years instead of 1-2).

it really depends on what you mean by major improvement. but isn't the answer to that always a yes? with google, user reviews are just a few words away. it is the internet, it doesn't forget.

No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Major improvement with almost everything.

    Diplomacy.
    AI.
    Family Tree.
    Political System.
    Campaign.
    Graphics.
    Multiplayer.
    Custom Battles.
    Ingame Chat.
    Factions.

The reason why Total War: Rome 2 wont sell so good is because its a stripped down version of Total War: Shogun 2 a step back in the franchise this is why it wont sell very well.

Sadly i agree. Its barely even its own game. it feels more like a mod. and not a mod that takes whats already there and works/adds to it no.
A mod that strips most of it away but gives you a shiny legion.

The question is not the sales which went very well. We can assume it has been sold at least 3 times more than Shogun 2. The question is who plays this game and is addicted to it despite the streamlining.

So maybe some millions more but its nothing, really 3x more sales is so small number. GTA 5 sold almost 2.3 billion, GTA 5 also had its problems on release but its a hell of a lot better than GTA 4 they actually added more content now they made 2.3 billion sales almost just a small thing and look at the amount of sales.

Well actually I find it hard to compare a casual console game with a normally immersive strategy game, Rome 2 isn't anymore though.

Same you cannot compare smartphone sales to blackberry as they have clear other audience and targets of use.

This game was IMO a much bigger failure than Empire because it had more to work with and delivered on fewer of its promises.

The question should be: would the next TW game sell better if Rome 2 had been an improvement over Shogun 2?

I bought this game hoping it will be better than anything before- before release it's not quality that matters but good advertising. Advertising was perfect and quality...

Is this some sort of rhetorical question?

I was thinking the same thing. I picked "other", whatever that means given this question.

I doubt actually delivering a good game would have made that much of a difference for their launch sales. They had a very good PR scheme going on.

Delivering a good game would definitely have improved subsequent DLC and game sales. I seriously doubt I'll buy a single piece of DLC for Rome 2 (I have bought every single one for Shogun 2, even if some of them weren't really worth it) and will not preorder a game from them anymore either (so Rome 2 ends up being the first and last time I preordered a CA game).

They did, they quite clearly did add a mass of new features. Better question is should they have delayed it for bugs/optimisation.
