Why isn't possible maintain the unit cohesion and prevent the rotation with the 4 patch?
As you noted its impossible right now, even moding the same files the cohesion disappear and the units blob,so what they change to make it worst?

The rotation is caused by the professional soldier's "Formation Attack" where they keep unit cohesion, unlike barbarian units. If you remove that, they won't rotate but they will start to blob.

But in previous versions it isn't so evident, after the clash we could see a slight and slow rotation, but now they turn around to much and to much fast. And now the two units almost completely merge one another. I made a almost equal battle entities table, the same speed, radius, radius ratio the same mass etc. but I can't get the same visual combat. They must change something elsewhere.

They improved unit cohesion for professional troops, which had the side effect of adding the rotation.

And any chance to reduce this cohesion, any value in any file?

I don't think so. All you can do is switch professional units to be more like barbarian/mob units.

You'll be able to manage the turning if you reduce flanking penalties in the db. But not that much. Units still turn automatically even if no order was given to pursue the attacker.
Say the AI attacks your line then suddenly turns to the one to the left, flanking it. Your units will follow suit to attack that AI unit.
