Help with getting good traits
Hey guys I downloaded this the other day and can't stop playing it and I was wondering how do I get better traits? I'll command a general and win about 10 fights and he won't gain a star in the command slot at ALL. I don't know if there was something to read before I played this but if you guys could help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Command-related traits in TNS are pretty much the same as vanilla when it comes to their triggers, you might just be unlucky so far?

Re: Help with getting good traits
I remember my heir winning a battle with a slight numerical disadvantage and getting both a monument and jumping from 2 to 6 stars. Compare that with my faction leader who broke the hosts of Adunabar and Harad and never advanced particularly high.
It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

Re: Help with getting good traits
I am pretty sure I remember in the trait triggers document that the likelihood, or possibility, of acquiring status from a battle is related to the game's calculation of the difficulty of the battle. Prior to battle check the strengths comparison bar. To get the better attributes you will need to gain crushing victories in battles where your strength ratio is less than 1:1, the less in your favor the better. If you are playing (or playing against) RK you will have a very skewed strength rating for units, and the ratio between actual troop or unit numbers may have to exceed 3:1 against RK.
All that being said, my practical experience is that command points do not do much for the game; this mod, at least; beyond about 4 points. I think this is the highest point requirement as a prerequisite for a useful ancillary spawn. In battle I experience very little difference between generals with lots of Command and those with none. Of course, I don't just throw my wall of soldiers at the enemy's wall of soldiers; and before you go talking about realism, neither did Alexander, or Hannibal, or Fredric the Great; certainly their were many historical generals who used that tactic, but they generally had good reasons not to care if their solders died in large numbers. I do not apologize for using intelligent tactics against the AI, that is why I expect the AI to have other severe advantages.
On the whole: I recommend reading the trait and ancillary description and triggers documents. You will find it much more important, overall, to concentrate on the acquisition of Management and Influence to increase revenues.

Re: Help with getting good traits
Take a closer look at your traits and ancillaries. In FATW a lot of them won't gain you another command star automatically, but only under certain conditions. With Rohan this is often the case only when commanding cavalry. Or the Easterling traiter ancillary for example only applies when fighting Easterlings.
