Default Patch 4 CAI seems to be improved.

    http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/...1D8CA1CC0B0A6/

Playing as Macedon on VH I noticed as I conquered the nearby provinces I was encountering full stacks in most cases with general infantry and such (with maybe half a dozen missile units)

When I engaged Athens and sieged it the AI does seem to put more effort in defending. Athens sent a full stack into my province Pella to keep me from moving in which I destroyed.

When I sieged Athens Sparta came to my aid and in a 14,000 men battle drove me off.

My biggest surprise though was Rome, Carthage, Seleucid and Egypt.

They are still alive and kicking and as you can see are pretty stabilized (Except Carthage I can't see what's going on) and their power is somewhat equal to mine but I'm slowing overtaking them.

So I guess the Food/squalor patches are working but they still need a lot of work to make them stronger IMO. I do see some starvations going on but they don't go for very long but again they could be improved.

    Anyone else seeing similar results?

What year are you on when you took that image?

I have noticed battles are harder, ie I am facing more troops, I took Crete playing as the Romans, but faced at least 3 armies. In previous patches Crete was easy.

It's good that the main factions seem to now be surviving ok.

Hi Nameless, I'm running your same campaign leading the phalanx to strike the world. My campaign is started under patch 3 and now is going thourhg the beta 4.

I've captured Athens and Sparta (on very hard) still with patch 3 and it was already hard to realize (I play with Radious AI and economics mods).
    - already hardo to capture
    - already reasonable and various amries to beat

One bug with patch 3: siege of Athens was impossible for me 'cause during siege, when athens fleet was Landing, the game started to run at 1 fps per second...a sort of "freeze and go" so I had to qui, then manage campaign to have two macedonian armies against the city and then autoresolve...

    Anyway, with patch 4:
    - More active and challenging diplomacy
    - Better balances between squalor and buildings construction
    - Better use of agents by the AI

of course this result is gained still using radious mods upgraded.

Despite of very hard and huge bugs affecting still siege-coastal battles and land ones I must say this patch gives us something good.

Problem is, tell me what you think, that after 60 turns I cannot notice you all a true historical event or many of the well known, Windows explaining us curiosity about history, science, discoveries and famous people related to your faction and the current year.

This is not a bug but a pure lack of immersion I felt in the past releases.

About 40 turns in actually. And yes my battles on Normal are going about 6-12 minutes, longer if there are more men.

70 turns in Carthage has been destroyed and Rome is reduced to 4 regions I think.

Egypt and Seleucids on the other hand are still staying strong and according to the power balance they are still stronger than I am.

Again I'm not seeing a lot of rebels either so that makes a huge difference.

I didn't had that problem and I also do not use mods. I'll probably use mods once I'm bored with the vanilla game and CA has finished patching the game up.

Again no mods on my own but yes I'm seeing a better balance like you said the AI seems to be holding its own regions better.

I'm assuming you're asking about immersion?

Honestly it's like Skyrim to me. It's up to the player to do all that and to immerse yourself. Skyrim is a big open world but when it comes down to the details it's really lacking.

The AI still looks very passive or stupid. Carthage, for example, lost a settlement to both Syracuse and Libya. Libya is doing well, taking 2 settlements from their starting position. Pontus is getting destroyed by Cimmeria and a lot of the passive 1 settlement factions, like all of Illyria and Rhodes/Knossos, are still there.
Again, I chalk it up to the fact that the AI has bigger fish to fry and because the player can establish an army and navy faster the AI doesn't want to "suicide" itself at the player like in previous TW.

Seleucids while being powerful have at least half a dozen factions to fight off at the moment so clearly they aren't at war with me.

With Egypt they are keeping to themselves at the moment as they got issues to deal with the close-by factions and I am stronger than they are.

I also chalk it up to the non-aggression pacts. I pretty much signed non-aggression with all the barbarian tribes north of me so I don't have to worry about any invasions from that area.

This does look to be a better than average result. Most of the factions have expanded.
