I've found out why M2TW lagged on my laptop - the game run with integrated graphic. It seems M2TW fails to see GT 650M in auto-mode. Manual setting has solved the problem.
And now I just can't wait for EB2 calmly and patiently, because my laptop is absolutely ready for this awesome game.

Me too. I played vanilla RTW only 2 times. M2TW - only 5-10 turns of 3 campaigns. Boring. Clergymen armed with crosses, pfff. When I saw in ETW Dagestan militia wearing tricorns and stockings I laughed like ctazy. Only vanilla S2TW is playable.

I don't have such a problem with S2TW and R2TW. I think I have to buy a newest fastest coolest PC AND a 5-7 old computer with Win XP. I hope one of them will run EB2 properly.
Try to deactivate antialiasing transparency in your graphic card drivers. Older games (like M2tw) was not made for those parameters and the graphic card tries to smooth every single blade of grass.

I really hope this can help because we will hear of this problem as soon as EBII will come out

M2TW doesn't choose GT 650M in automode, and integrated graphic is too weak for the game. So I set the videocard manually, and it worked. M2TW runs fine on highest settings now.

well, count me in! I had so much fun with EB1 I learned how to do simple mod changes just for eb a few years ago, it has been a big help to my enjoyment since looking forward to the good times to come!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii
