    Rome: Total War

    Iberia Total War

Write your own history with Iberia Total War.

This mod is focused in the Western Mediterranean and the fight between Romans and Carthaginians, with the Iberian peninsula as main battle field. A new realistic campaign map, including Iberia, Italia, North Africa and South Galia, is the scenario. Play a "free-style" campaign, o try one of the four "script-driven" provincial campaigns. Try the "guerrilla" warfare, with the devastating and rapid iberian skirmishers, or use the legions to squash the iberian resistence. Would Carthaginians be able to defeat the romans and dominate the wealthy Iberian mines? Write your own history with Iberia Total War.

    Barbarian Invasion

    Invasio Barbarorum

The premier Mod set in the timeframe of Rome Total War:Barbarian Invasion - experience the world at the end of the Roman era, before the west is plunged into the Dark Ages, experience TOTAL WAR!

The year is 410AD, the Roman Garrison in Britannia was shipped to Gaul by Constantine III, the usurper. Britannia, beset by raiding Picts and Saxons, asks for help from the Roman Emperor in the West, but was told to fend for themselves.
The Western half of the Empire is beset by it's own troubles, aside from the Army of Constantine III which had overrun Gaul, the Vandals and Alans have reached Iberia, the Visigoths are at the gates of Rome, the Burgundii at the borders. These Germans have been driven westward by a greater host - the Hunnic hordes, sweeping everything in their path, they now stand on the threshold of the western lands, and will start inroads into the West Empire and the East Empire very soon.
The East Roman Empire is beset by the Ostrogoths, also driven west by the Huns, and to the east the great Empire of the Sassanids, with their great cataphract cavalry. But the Sassanids are also being torn apart in the East by the Hephthalites, another great nomad horde.
No one is safe, the world is in turmoil, there is no knowing how it will end...
This is INVASIO BARBARORUM! This is TOTAL WAR!!!

    Ogniem i Mieczem: Total War

Ogniem i Mieczem (With Fire And Sword) is a major modification focused on events which took place in Eastern and Central Europe in the XVI-XVII centuries.

Ogniem i Mieczem (With Fire And Sword) is a major modification to a well known strategy game Rome: Total War. The modification is focused on events which took place in Eastern and Central Europe in XVI-XVII ages. The unique tactics and strategy for each faction are based on unique lines of buildings, upgrades and units. The atmosphere in the game is maintained with authentic symbolism of the states of that period. The interface is made according to the spirit of the age. Military quotations of that period are also included. Historical accuracy is the main strong point of the mod. The starting conditions of the campaign correspond to the real political, strategic, economic, demographic and military set-up at the year of 1569 (campaign starting date). Events drastically change during the campaign. To win you always have to be ready to show your supreme mastery of strategy and tactics. Campaign ends at the year of 1700. This date symbolizes the beginning of a new military age. So if you think Rome: Total War is finished, you are definitely mistaken! The main battles are ahead! Smash your enemies With Fire And Sword in the Total War!

    Paeninsula Italica

Paeninsula Italica is a historical mod, with the timeframe of 338-222 B.C., and with aims to recreate the great struggles for the supremacy of Italy.

In this mod we are aiming to portray Italy in the late fourth century BC.
After a hundred years since the founding of the Republic, Rome has grown considerably in power. It has dissolved the Latin League in 338 B.C. and has taken up the leadership among the states of Latium. In the center of the Peninsula are the powerful Etruscan League, the Sabini and the ancient nation of the Umbri. Even further to the north are teeming hordes of Celtic Insubres, Cenomani, Boii and Senones who have invaded across the Alps into the Po Valley, and entirely obliterated the old Etruscan dominion there, settling in an area neighbouring by the warlike Ligures, the Veneti and the Rhetic tribes. To the south are the hardy Sabellian tribes collected on some powerful leagues: Sabelli, Samnites, Lucani and Brettii. On the southern Adriatic coast are the Ipygian tribes, grouped in two major confederations: the Apuli and the Messapii. Some of the ancient Greek cities still survived and are collected in the "Italiote League" led by Tarentum. The rich Sicily is still contended by Chartage and the great city of Syracuse. News has arrived that Alexander of Epirus, uncle of Alexander the Great, has just landed with ambitions for the whole peninsula.

    Medieval II Total War

    The Lion and the Eagle

A mod concentrating on a smaller map and a shorter timespan, instead aiming to bring you good graphics and a focused gaming experience.

The Lion and the Eagle is a modification project for Medieval II Total War aiming to recreate the period of religious conflicts in Europe known as the Thirty years war (fought between 1618 and 1648). The map will be centered around Northern Europe and feature the main factions involved in the war(s) as well as a few more (England and Poland for instance). Some of the major goals for this mod are outstanding graphics, historical accuracy (within reasonable limits), a well balanced campaign focusing on a relatively small area and well designed, unique factions.

In case the "Modding tools & Tutorials—read me first!" thread is deleted could you please copy over the MapAnalysator tool from the old list to the list of modding tools at the start of this thread? Thank you
Have a map and want a brief overview over it's list of regions, the coordinates of ports and towns?
Tired of working out R:TW compatible coordinates for descr_strat by hand? MapAnalysator might help.
Curious? Then have a look @

Yup, the one reason why it has been made really. There is also a sticky in the RTW GD of this thread, as some more people may see it there than here.

Good job, but i have also a little overview for newbies :

-First, if you have BI (and BI 1.6) based mods and RTW 1.5 (most of them now), the majority working currently with the Rome.exe.
-Second, you have two methods: Install JSGME on a proper RTW to switch between mods (but some mods won't be playable, look for the installation threads). Iberia total war got the JSGME.
The second method is to have a clean RTW 1.5 installation and a clean BI and BI 1.6. (more than 1,3 Go each, and fot each new mod, chose the appropriate config. and create a new file in activision (or elsewere), like "europa_barbarorum", and copy/paste all the files in it. Then, install the mod in its proper space. This method allows to try virtually all the mods, but is of course very heavy...
Third, there are lots of wonderful mods here, but that depend of what you are searching. Some of them are just "light" like rome total gameplay, other are complete reconstructions -RTR and EB are the best by now- New map, music, graphisms, units, factions... But ther are still Rome: total war mods, same story... (SPQR, res gestae, iberia, Barebone wars...).
You have excellent mods for BI like Invasio Barbarorum, Arthurian TTW or Vlad TTW.
You have fantasy mods like Blue Lotus, warhammer total war, Atlantis, and the LOTR based mods, or wheel of time, canticle for leibowitz, and others.
You have "Asian mods" like Three kingdom and Sangguo (China) or Ran no jidai (well... not yet ready).
You have "modern" historical mods like Chivalry, Crusader, Citadel, Ogniem i Mieczem and of course Napoleonic II (without SP campaign, only custom battles).
You have "bonze-age" mods like Troy, Rise of Persia, Haegemonia...

If you want a "light mod", try RTG (Rome total gameplay) or Greek extended, but if you want a complete mod, try RTR or EB (the best for me). The last is really huge, so you need a strong config.

Some are easy to install (just click and go), some requires you to copy/paste or remove some files. There are no bug free mods. But some of them are more stable like RTR.

You can also customise your own unmodded RTW with the prefs text file (like suppressing the green arrows and the baneers), have all the factions playable (descr_strat in data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign), and modify all the .tga files with paint shop or photoshop. Then, you can also studying the tutorials, get the extractor tools and converters, and change the units textures. Then change traits/anciliaries (simple text files)...
For the rest see the tools forums.

    Bye
