    Default Have I been robbed?

This game is a complete disaster, I did not pay the premium price of the pre order game, just to be a BETA tester!
You can't compare this game even with Empire, it is much worse! At least with Empire, you could have argued, that it was a new engine and that they managed to make some improvements to the old engine.

With Rome 2 however, they should have mastered the Engine by now especially after the solid release of their last game prior FoTS.
They have not bothered to address the fundamental issues of the game AI, BAI etc.
Rome 2 was the first and last game I will pre-order and now I have even moved away from the Total war brand.

Recently I have been playing EU4, which I have been thoroughly enjoying, even though there are no grand graphics / visualsor even wars you control...but it just so damn fun because it totally immerses you in the game. You feel as part of the game and character. Rome 2 doesn't even have a family tree, when arguably it was one of the most important periods for Family dynasties. This is a complete amateurish disaster. I don't think CA were that Naive to think this game is great, they obviously KNEW this game is not right yet still sold the game. I feel like cheated and robbed.
    this obviously breaks a law.

Let me remind CA a UK company of a UK Law

    Sale of Goods Act 1979
Under the Act you are entitled to expect that any goods you buy from a trader are:

    • of satisfactory quality
    • fit for any particular purpose made known to the seller
    • as described.

They have broken all 3 Acts: The game was not of satisfactory quality, it was not fit for it's purpose, as it was buggy, and definately not as described, Infact I think the quality was much worse to what was showed on previews.

The only thing which I like was the city expansion......that tells you a lot.

The game I believe will be recovered however, by the fantastic modders we have on this boards, just as IMO Darthmod salvaged Empire - but not CA.
They should have hired a team of dedicated players from these sites and other similar ones, (which included Darth also - don't know why they gave him the cold shoulder) and made them as part of the BETA/development team before release (that would have cost you alot less than CA prancing around Rome).

Sorry if this is harsh, but I hate it being conned and that is how I feel atm CA. I been with you guys since Shogun 1, every title and expansion buying customer.

Sure, and you'll be his attorney right? With your PHD in International Law? Oh wait...

Ontopic: you have not been robbed. You, as I did aswell, gave them your money willingly, mostly because of hype and expectation. If there is anyone who robbed you, it's yourself. Nothing to do about it now.

You probably never stepped a foot inside a university, let alone study law. Don't act all tough on a forum, keep it civilised and act like an adult. Instead of provoking people and acting like a small kid.

Well no. His point is that we see dozens of these "Sue CA" threads but none of them actually go ahead and do it. It's like Family Guy where Stewie always talks about killing Lois and Brian just shuts him up and says that all he has is bark and no bite. I mean seriously do we need 12 "Sue CA/I've been robbed/raped by CA" threads every day? Might as well just have the one stick thread and put it all there.

I have 2 degrees and will have a third soon. I have studied law for 5 years, basically international law, commercial law, civil rights, consumer rights, constitutional rights, aside the first 2 they limit my knowledge of legal procedures to my country, since they differ for each country.

interestingly enough, international law doesnt haven anything to do with the case in question. its a basic consumer rights case that is usually settled in a small court

so go on, tell me more

I wouldn`t dismiss such threads so easily.

^ You may be right, but when your post is just made up of directionless whining and unfounded accusation, its pretty much guaranteed. I know you're sensitive, especially since big bad CA removed family trees and instead placed the family as a sub-faction choice. Don't worry, I'm sure they could easily fix a little detail like that.

I hope you do sue them and I hope you win. Granted, it's not going to happen, but it would certainly give them something to think about the next time they release a half-finished game.

Whats with all the clown trolls in this thread? I wish I could get my money back, however highly unlikely, unless you go to court obviously. Am I going to court for 25 pounds? Nope.

Despite everything I've been merrily playing the game, and 250 hrs now. I'd rather have a playable if fractured Rome2 than no Rome2 at all.

I agree with you there, a very bland lack of character. The AI characters in Anno 1404 exhibited much more persona.
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

I'm not trying to give unconstructive whining, apologies if that is the case.

But as a follower of the brand since its very early days and having invested a small fortune over the years on the brand, I think I am entitled to my opinions, especially considering this is a forum to do just that - discuss the game. I obviously won't be suing CA (not worth the hassle of just £30 and I actually do love previous CA games) but I don't like getting robbed even if it was my best friend. All that effort on Marketing and PR they did about the game, if they directed some of the attention on the game itself it would perhaps been that little better.

I myself work in media and have to publish my Magazine within a certain deadline of high quality, naturally is my product is garbage, the eventual consequences will be garbage sales. However I will never sell my customers a half empty magazine - I genuinely hope CA avoid this as I really want to see them excel and even launch MTW3, but they need some strong internal leadership.

I won't blame SEGA, like every corporate they want to make money and will be very strict in terms of time available, but CA got a huge budget this time around.

Don't let the forum muppets get you down. People should be free to praise or lambast the game as they see fit. You're making valid points and your post is useful for other would-be buyers as enough negative feedback balances out the CS marketing somewhat for those out to make an informed decision before they buy.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

I think it's invoked by thread titles such as this one "Have I been robbed?" and other sensationalist words.

This thread I feel it was most certainly the title. IMO, I dislike both extremes. The game is not the spawn or Satan, nor is it the second coming of Jesus.

It's game with issues, yes. One that I've found to be quite fun, bugs and strange gameplay designs included. If you didn't enjoy it, more power to you. If people really wanted Rome II to change for the better in their eyes, they would be best off not creating threads here threatening to sue, but in the Bug Reporting forum of the official forums. Even then, you could still make constructive threads at either forum. Threads like this are constructive.

Threads like this however, are not constructive and are just whiner threads.

But go on, continue calling people who disagree with you "Fanboys" or "Apologist Tools" and further destroy your ethos.

Actually being sold a game on a misleading basis provokes threads like these.
Good for you if the bugs were fun for me, I can assure you it was not the case with the majority of buyers of the game.

If being conned to buy a game isn't being robbed then I don't know what is. I never said I will sue, please don't jump to conclusions, at least read what I write before commenting. I won't sue them, but they did breach the law by releasing a game, which clearly was not finished and rushed. This is about protecting consumer rights. The penny has to stop somewhere - for me this is it.

At first, I was supportive of CA against the relentless tirade against them after the release. But then I realised, look at how amazing GTA 5 is upon release.....

....few glitches but stunning gameplay and graphics straight away, just like a newly-bought product SHOULD be like. Remember Skyrim's release too? Exactly like they had previewed the game in the trailers; probably even better! Another telling thing is I haven't loaded up Rome 2 on my PC since September 3rd and even then I only played 1 battle (got bored).

So yes, I agree with you. Sue the pants off these people. Their ing **** game belongs in the dustbin....

I feel the same way PrinceofPersia. Not sure what they're saving for, not providing the obvious, when they obviously know what we want even long before they started making Rome 2. It seems they played into this, hinting, and even sideways nodding to the queries, just to sell us into buying the game.

This part is the tricky one: They know people will be asking for more, so they promised them such. Maybe a little downgrade here and there, but then totally fall below the cloud of a mark they've been laughing and proud about.

When their Rallypoint laughter no longer seems excitement to me, rather mockery, it tells me something has gone terribly wrong.
