Favorite Mercenaries?

I haven't played the Empire enough to really see all of the mercenaries available, but my favorite thus far are the Shield Maidens: they always seem to do well on the battlefield and they're relatively cheap.

Correct me if I'm wrong but only two Empire factions can get access to those Norse mercs; the rest of them appear randomly through an event trigger.

I believe those mercenaries are available in their own territory. For example the shield maiden, Huscalr and other Norse can be train in the north.

Beside those common merc there're the regiments of elite merc which will be trigger randomly

To me the best once is the Grudge Bringer cause they come with the full army of their own consisted of Cavalry, Swordsman, Xbow and cannon! They can be train in any settlement too.

Voland, the level "knight" mercenary heavy cavalry, extremely powerful and available for retrain in every settlement. Golfaq ogres are extremely useful to, especialy for dwarfs (but Long Drong win for "coolness"), Rudglub (?) armored crossbowman for the orcs, but all the mercenaries are good, even those who seems to be "standar" (like de multiple pikemen or crosbowmen), all add flavor and some flexibility like grudgebringer, his units are not unique or even rare but are recruitable in all the map, the "medium" cavalry is very good (but Ragnar wolves are better, less defense but lighting speed and brutal charge) and the empire lacks the flexibilitay when conquer underdevelopment towns (then you built a dog of war camp and... Voila! all the units types you need for a balanced stack).

Propably Grudge Bringer, maybe becouse back in the days I absolutelly loved Dark-Omen, and it was my first contact to fantasy-WH.
Empire stuff too is always cool, Steam-tank, WPs, WHs, etc...

I love all of those Spanish themed Crossbowmen and Pikemen .

Voland's Venators is the most useful mercenary order. The Empire have a big lack of heavy cavalry. Only the knightly orders are provoding you it and you have to send them back to their H.Q. to replenish their loss. But if you can get Voland, you can spam heavy cavalries from any settlement. An amazing advantage, that cannot be provided by any other mercenary, if you ask me.

But still, my favorite mercenaries are the Amazons, since they are SEMINUDE WOMEN!
