Silven could you post which file you're editing this data in? Thanks![]()
He is editing the data_rome2.pack file at the campaign_difficulty_handicap_effects table.
You will want to make a small mod rather than edit that pack file most likely. If you need it, here is a basic mod tutorial: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...e-Game-Editing
Wonderful thanks.
Any idea of why there are two more levels of difficulty? -2 and -3?
To quote Radious from earlier in this thread:
AI is Human False, are Easy (-1), Normal (0), Hard (1), Very Hard (2) and Legendary (3)
Player is Human True, difficulties are Easy (1), Normal (0), Hard (-1), Very Hard (-2) and Legendary (-3)
So if you want to change only the player's side of things, make 5 new columns. Put the values -3 through 1 in the first column, then make sure the second is True (or if its a checkbox, check it).
To change the AI side of things, put the values -1 through 3 in the first column. Then make sure the second is False (unchecked).
Ahhh. It would have been nice if they stuck with the same values for both sides
My goal is to make to use the "Very Hard" difficulty level, but "average" the bonus's the AI gets with "Hard" and "Very Hard", and then set the human values to "Hard" level. This way in my testing it'll be a little more challenging, but not too far from the balance CA" wants since they balance everything on "Hard" difficulty. I"MN also going to give the AI just 10 extra food, so if AN AI is still doing a poor job balancing his cities I'll see it.
Based on what I want to do, I don't need to add any new columns do I? I can just adjust the values I see in your mod?
You don't need any new columns, but you do need new rows because those food changes are not included in the normal difficulty settings. The final 5 rows in my mod are what change the food for the AI.
You can directly edit the various bonuses in that table to change the various difficulty levels, so you won't have to add any rows for that.
I have a question. As I mentioned above, I wanted to lower the "Very Hard" difficulty settings just a tiny bit. So when I look in your file Dresden, I sorted via function and from the top started to look to edit "agent action hinder character". But I don't see a value for the "Human" variable for "Very Hard" ie. "2". Is line 220 supposed to have a check in the box for "Human"?
oops I cropped out the left a bit too much, so the 100 and 200 values are not showing. The arrow next to "20" is actually line "220", and "91" is "191". Also I sent you a pm. Not sure if this forum notifies a person or not![]()

Human is -3 through 1, so the settings go like this:
AI is Human False, difficulties are Easy (-1), Normal (0), Hard (1), Very Hard (2) and Legendary (3)
Player is Human True, difficulties are Easy (1), Normal (0), Hard (-1), Very Hard (-2) and Legendary (-3)
So look at the row with -2 and that will be Very Hard for players.
No, there is no difficulty where human is assigned +ve 2.
2/3 are AI only, -2/3 are human only.

Sorry been a rough day. I see, that was a very stupid question and obvious.
I have a less obvious question. When looking at AI values and comparing Hard to Very Hard, I see that the Hard level is missing a few lines that Very Hard and Legendary have. Is this because there's a default value and they're not needed? Can I just add new rows for the new settings I'd like to make? I decided I'm editing just the AI values for "Hard" to make them a little more difficult than normal.
There are these 2 lines for AI's "Very hard"
Same 2 lines in "Legendary"Code:2 False rom_tech_military_management_unit_cost_mod in_all_your_provinces -10 2 False rom_tech_military_management_upkeep_mod in_all_your_forces -20
So can I just make 2 new rows that are: (for my edited Hard mode)?Code:3 False rom_tech_military_management_unit_cost_mod in_all_your_provinces -20 3 False rom_tech_military_management_upkeep_mod in_all_your_forces -25
Code:1 False rom_tech_military_management_unit_cost_mod in_all_your_provinces -5 1 False rom_tech_military_management_upkeep_mod in_all_your_forces -10

I neglected to check up on my thread, sorry about that. Thanks for helping him out Dresden!
is there a way to make this with money for some factions (not for all)
Just saw this thread... sounds promising... gonna throw it in my mod :O) why should the AI waste precious military building space for 'some' food tee hee
btw, Ritter... I have a money version but you cannot do 'some' factions in campaign difficulty AFAIK... I would be VERY INTERESTED in finding out how to do money for particular factions who also MUST BE AI (and campaign difficulty seems the only place where you can flip the human=false switch)
