    Default Show me evidence please

I have heard that vh campaign is bugged precisely how can u say that? I find it to have more units, not a huge difference from hard but still... and where is it bugged?? Is it a bug that the modders have created on RS2 or it s a vanilla bug? And if it s a vanilla how come that the people that wrote vh campaign is bugged did not even asked if I (or the person who wrote) was playing on alexander, BI or classic Rome total war?

Do I need to presume that the vh campaign is bugged equally on the original game and in the same way for all the expansions?

Also calculating that some modders do advice to play vh campaign

how do u know it? Or it is just something u have heard on the forum and u just kept repeting it without even carefully testing it?

no because I have seen this kind of behaviour often on TWC and on other forum like for example people removing grenades from the granadiers in Napoleon total war because they said that they were historically inaccurate when this is just a common mith, since they were indeed used less but still used, particularly in siges or to remove an enemy who was inside a building etc.

So can any of the people that said it provide any kind of solid evidence?

there is no evidence ...i done a lot of testing with the alex.exe on vh campaign on lots of different mods and the original alex game{with a fine tooth comb}.... and found no abnormalities
in years of looking for this bug on alex.exe i have yet to find it....i cant say about bi or vanilla exe's.....them bug is meant togive the player ai bonus money every turn...at least thats one version of it

Just ask Tedric, apple, tone or dvk... They'll know it, especially dvk. He looked into the Rome.exe deeper than anyone...

I have played both h/h and vh/h on vanilla and using different mods and I have never experienced any bug but all the time my enemies had more troops when I was playing vh

so based on my experience I have to say that it s a false statement

Personally, i'd like to know about VH on Alex.exe. Maybe seeing GRANTO's post, i should start a new campaign on Alex.exe on VH campaign.

It isn't possible to show 'evidence' as you suggest, and I confess that I cannot say whether this bug exists in ALEX or not because I rarely ever use that EXE.

Our team determined a long time ago that playing on a VH Strat (Campaign) setting was bugged because the RTW\BI exes, rather than giving the player LESS money and making it harder, actually gives the player MORE money and makes it easier than if you played on Hard. We have tested this mod for thousands and thousands of hours, so I think that's pretty good evidence. The bug was never fixed for RTW or BI because the last patch for both was 1.6. Alex is patch 1.9. So it 'may' have been fixed for that exe, but I can't say for sure because it just wasn't used as much to confirm or deny.

The VH setting for battles isn't necessarily 'bugged' in the sense of 'it doesn't work right'. Rather, it's bugged because the AI armies are given near nonsensical bonuses in battles that make an already hard set of unit stats even harder. We just don't recommend playing on it because the mod was not written to take into account those bonuses.

But, at the end of the day, this is just a 'recommendation' from this team. It was never anything more than that.

I have done some test with something much lighter and simpler than RS2 I have used the mod extended greek mod on alexander

Roman 1st turn the rebel attack and destroy a city and that s all that happenes
Everytime u pass from turn1 to turn 2

on vh I had always 1641 or 1543 coin at the beginning of turn 2 (tried 5 times)

on h I always had 1848 coins at the beginning of turn 2 (tried 5 times)

so on vh I always had less money than with h and the same thing happens for the following turn

Plus the enemy seem to have more troops

it was not a long test just took me 5 minutes )))

Is it the way I tested valid?

Dear friend, we didn't bother testing XGM because we weren't working on XGM. Our testing is all exclusively on RS2, which, is configured a lot differently than XGM.
So my\our comments on VH campaigns apply only to our experiences while testing RS2.

It may well be that ALEX produces different results than RTW\BI, but we were always dependent on what our testers actually had available, and for the most part, that was either RTW or BI. ALEX was much less popular until long after it was released, and even then it was only for its perceived better AI and troop retraining benefits. So really, only a few people even had Alex on our team. I had to go out and acquire it myself in the midst of developing RS2 just so I could load saved games from people who did have it. But I've never played much with it. Plus, ALEX has issues with some ambushes (in formations settings) and will cause CTD's in those cases, and I believe 'swimming' units is lost in Alex. Basically, we built RS2 for RTW and BI.

If you find in playing RS2 that ALEX does indeed provide a harder campaign...great. No one so far had ever reported that.

Well thanks for all the notions in any case I tried with a different mod because the economy in RS2 is more complex )) while the one in the vanilla is much simpler to understand and I thought if it s a vanilla problem...

Anyway with BI it is indeed true I made the same test I have done before with Sarmati and at vh at turn 2 I had 15022 coins while on hard I had only 14955

if I can ask just one more question do u know how much the AI money bonus is? Because maybe the AI receive so much more money at vh compared to hard that it is still more difficult, thanks anyway +rep

I did ask and that's why the quote is in my Sig now...

The 'evidence' is a direct quote from a CA developer/coder and is true throughout the RTW/BI/Alex series. I have no reason to disbelieve it.

TBQH - I'm afraid I have no truck with 'gamers' who have to 'prove how leet they are' by playing on VH/'Legendary' - it's pretty pathetic.

Subjectively I felt that a Hard Campaign was 'better' when I tried it, after much repetitive testing on Medium. All my test battles, 100's of large and small, were on Medium for all the best reasons. IMHO 'Medium' should be where the majority play and it gives the opportunity to step up or down a level to taste. Using VH battles should result in the average play losing rather a lot.
"RTW/RS VH campaign difficulty is bugged out (CA bug that never got fixed) and thus easier than Hard so play on that instead" - apple

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

Wait wait wait the evidence is very simple to find at least the fact that with vh u earn more money ( just do the test as I did) wether vh is still more difficult because maybe the AI receive much larger bonus that I can not test it... Sofar

anyway that is not true to any total war apart from rome 1 and even in rome 1 this bug is not present in alexander campaign and any mod that use alexander

so u should change your signature because it is incorrect and I saw it while I was playing alexander! plus u do not even specify that u are speaking about rome 1... If u go on other treads like shogun 2 or Napoleon u might confuse people
    providing them a false information

So u should say it regards only rome1 and BI not Alex if u want to be helpful
regarding the quote I play vh because hard is too easy for me and the game becomes boring
