    Default Question - Demanding Regions

I know many people have asked about the possibility of this, but has anyone worked on adding the ability for factions to demand regions? The reason I ask is that in the /db/ there are listing for demand_regions and reject_demand_regions under the diplomacy_negotiation_strings table.

However, I have no idea how to add those options into diplomatic negotiations. Perhaps this is something that isn't currently moddable?

Another odd thing I noted is that Carthage and Egypt have an entire diplomacy faction strings override table to themselves. I tried adding demand regions to that but nothing happened. I am not sure why they have their own table.

I'm sure they hardcoded this to later import it via DLC or patch. There's tons of such variables that seems to be hardcoded.

I'd say they weren't necessarily satisfied with the results and did so to rebalance Carthage and Egypt, but I might be wrong. You've already messed with adding liberation and ransack to all factions, I'd say try to find a variable that says something like "give_region_to" or similar and try adding it to your liberate and sack mod tables. I'm also searching for anything like that and let you know once I've found something.

Thanks for the response. The sack and liberation tables basically only have to do with options you get when you take a city. I haven't figured out how to change the options you get when you go into diplomatic talks with another faction. They have to be somewhere, but may not be moddable.

For example, if you are a satrapy you can only get a trade agreement. Or, if you are at war you can only initially ask for peace. I am trying to find where those restrictions are. Perhaps, if we can find that we can add the demand_regions value that already exists in the diplomacy strings table.

I even found some text files that are ripe and ready for region trading.

    Examples:
diplomacy_strings_string_rome_request_hand_over_region_02 The Senate bids me ask that you hand over these lands. It is a reasonable request.
diplomacy_strings_string_rome_request_hand_over_region_03 There are few hands safer than those of a Roman and these lands cry out for a Roman's touch.
diplomacy_strings_string_rome_request_hand_over_region_01 I am the agent of the Senate in this simple matter: will you hand over these lands, or not?

So it seems to me they had this option in and then decided to remove it. I just can't figure out exactly where to go to edit diplomatic options other than the easy ones of satrapy, client state, confederation.

I'm entirely sure this is left over from something they going to enable via DLC. Probably hardcoded stuff you're searching for. You'd need to set up the UI, the text, the script, the diplomatic action...all tose things related to hand over the regions, and none of them is present.
