What's the deal with these recruitment pools and such? How is it different that RTW? (close if already posted)
I think it depends on the level of castle/city. There is a certain amount of spaces in the recruitment bar which are lit up. Those that are lit up is how many units you can recruit in a single turn. Castles have more spaces than cities and the higher the level of the settlement, the more spaces. Also, much like mercenaries, there is only a certain amount of a certain type of unit you can recruit in a turn. The untis replenish, but for example, knights replenish slower than militia and so on.
I like it...
If you are taking it slow but suddenly someone decides to attack, you can raise a giant army in a short amount of time.
well not a giant army but it will show a more realistic style to the time, since standing armies were uncommon and just raised in times of need, maybe with a small core of regular troops.Originally Posted by Ragss

Hey, thanks for the info Flavius.
I knew that there was going to be a new recruitment system, but hadn't gotten around to finding out how it worked. So, basically, if i'm understanding you correctly, in MTW2 we can recruit multiple units/per settlement in one turn?
That is much better! It'll help when we really need to raise an army pronto!

Agreed, if someone is about to siege your town and your people are patriotic, or they know that their gonna be executed, their gonna pick up a fork or something and fight to the death.

Units seem to take longer but this is a city so it has only two recruitment slots. CA did say that their adding in multiple recruitment slots so I guess you can train 3 spearmen or 1 spearmen and 1 knight battalion in one turn.
I think it's more like 3 spearmen or 2 spearmen and 1 knight, so I'm thinking that there won't be any 2 or 3 turn units, just that if you recruit a knight, you have to wait 5 turns before you can recruit another one. The better the unit, the longer it takes to replenish itself.
Also, I'm not entirely sure about the data I'm giving you guys, but it's what I pieced together from screenshots, interviews and aother such things.
Edit: The screenshot where it says 2 turns until next unit most probably means 2 more turns until you can recruit yet another militia unit. So if you can recruit 2 units now, wait 2 more turns and you'll be able to recruit 3 units.
I also think you're right Flavius. But there is s'thing that just poped up in my mind - are the units in the pools going to amass? For ex. you build 2nd or 3d level barracks, and now you can recruit 1 men at arm(which is in the pool), and if you wait for ex. 10 turns are there going to be 4-5 men at arms in the r. pool, or you have to hire this 1 MAA and only after that the r.pool will replenish itself with another MAA.
I must say, I'm quite impressed with this new recruitment system. The only thing that bugs me is that there won't be any regional AoRs. So we'll still be able to train Welsh longbowmen in Smolensk or something stupid like that.

You can't be serious :hmmm: Will there be no regional basis for this kind of units? Welsh for the Wales?Originally Posted by Zenith Darksea
I dont think thats right, unique units are still likely only available in their native province (eg in Rome, Spartan Hoplites available in Sparta only) - but more generic units probably will be recruitable anywhere, so the English will be able to recruit their basic types anywhere on the map
yeah for example you may be able to get longbow men in any english settlement, however can only recruit welsh longbow men in the welsh province.
No, walsh longbow in game period used all ower the England

I like this new system.
I thought unit pools were divided in classes instead of units, i.e. militia take from the same pool as bow militia instead of a pool for each unit. I think the earlier is better....
