How long will this game get support?

I was thinking of the release of Civ 5 last night and how in a ways its was very similar to the release of R2. In addition to many bugs, performance issue and things omitted from the game many loved it but many hated it. But after 3 years as well as at least 10 patches and 2 expansions its truly deserves its 9/10 rating. Do you think Rome 2 will get the same support?

shogun 2 got plenty of support and it was widely praised, so why not rome 2?

during the first 2 months post release?

but yeah as long theres DLC and Expansions we will get a patch here and there!!!!

it was mostly

archers are OP -> irrelevant
Why not X era -> irrelevant
Fix empire first -> irrelevant
all troops look the same -> irrelevant
dumbing down! -> irrelevant
steam is evilz -> irrelevant
no modding tools! -> relevant
no AA! -> relevant to some
no DX11 -> relevant to some
it doesn't work on AMD cpus! -> relevant, I will come as elitist, but get a decent cpu from intel, the performance difference is huge.

those are the ones I can remember, mostly people that didn't get that a civil war in a very confined space in a homogeneous culture would have similar units, or from lack of understanding of the social cultural period, those are education issues.

Agree with everything except Intel CPUs being better than AMD. Might want to do some honest research before saying that, you might be surprised about which CPU is currently the best.

you're kidding right? intel doesnt even have to really try at the moment.. AMD is behind and its getting worse and worse

you mean one of the residents of the basement and currently in the last semester of compsci don't have a clue at what the best cpu is? The only viable application for amd cpus right now besides budget low end is render farms, to which will be rendered useless once the ivy E and the subsequent xeons based on it are available with 12 cores and with HT enabled.

Shogun 2 was patched longer than any Total War game, and as that was a more polished game at release, so assume longer than that unless they find some method to fix all the problems tomorrow.

For more or less a year after release. It also depends on number of DLC. If an expansion emerges after that year, couple of months more. No longer then till release of next TW title.

Until the next Total War comes out, so at least a year or more. Probably more, as I highly suspect the "Russian" parts of the map will be for some kind of expansion.

shogun 2 even got a patch 2 weeks ago, after rome 2's launch.. not sure what it did but it was there

It'll still get support to fix technical for a while, it'll just be extremely slow as the actual support team gets slowly cut down to two guys and their dog. But after the first month or so almost all game-play issues are going to be pretty much set in stone.
Don't like the lack of fire at will for pila? the fact that testudos are useless? the fact that you have to re-select ships and give them a new order every time you want to ram again?

Yeah because having infantry that are also archers, is completely a good idea. Why even train any proper missile troops if you just make infantry do it?

Because infantry only have a range of 40 meters and 2 projectiles each?

Given, at least for Roman infantry, they hardly need to throw pila to massacre most infantry anyway...
Mind, this isn't on Legendary because that difficulty is designed to be unfair anyway.

That's because they're balanced to be absurdly over-powered melee infantry. You can't actually balance any line troops to be more reliant on their pila right now just because of how hard it is to actually make them throw.

I hope they support it until it reaches a stage where people are happy with the game hopefully in 5-6 months time the game will be patched and hopefully CA will add a ton of features crossing fingers!.
