    Default Microfreezes

    Hi all,
my all time favourite of all Total war games suddenly has problems

Ingame, the game runs fluently for 10 seconds, then freezes for a second or less, and then runs fluently again for 10 seconds, and so on.
It's always that way in battles, and often on campaign map.

I already unistalled the game, defragmented, searched for viruses (Kaspersky), reinstalled it, made sure that the newest drivers are installed. Still, the problem occurs.

The other game I actually play (Hegemony Gold, Mount and Blade Warband, Skyrim) don't have any problems of this kind.

The dx diag is attached (because of the nvidia optimus tech, the dxdiag didn't find the real graphic card, only the Intel one; its a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 1 GB)

I hope together we can figure this out.

When was the last time you opened and cleaned out the case?

Odds are your problem is heat caused by lack of airflow because of a layer of crud on everything inside your case and I would not be surprised if you have a few air vents blocked with dust bunnies.

Check on Acer's website on how to open the case properly so you can do the cleaning. A can of compressed air from a place like Wal-Mart would probably work wonders.

Unfortunately, that doesn't solve the problem.
I brought the notebook to the computer expert of my trust, and he checked it (graphic card and cooler are working well) and cleaned it (I researched how to do it and didn't trust myself to do it), renewed the heat conducts.
    The problem was still there.
My next thougt was to reinstall the whole computer to make sure there`s no software/virus problem.
Do you have any alternative ideas?

I have none. If he found nothing, I won't either.

The only other thing I'd think of is whatever you may have running in the background.
