    Default Rome 2 Weapon Damage vs Armour Spreadsheets

    This google document contains two spreadsheets so far, which calculate how much damage each weapon in R2TW does against different amounts of armour. Hat tip to crzyrndm for collecting intel on how this is calculated in his thread.

    I realize there are more variables to actual ingame damage, but this may be helpful to some people such as modders looking at what damage and armour stats to mess with for balance. Any feedback appreciated of course!

    data is up to date as of Patch 8.0

    Is this out of date now as of patch 5? It's listing bows with 5 AP and up, but I thought they were at 0AP for the base bow (according to http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...d-tool-info%29)

    Yes, I have not gone over this since the last patch. I will update the spreadsheet in the next few days.

    I'm thinking I should also add a few lines to help assess upgraded weapons. I have my Scythian horse bows upgraded to the point where they do 35 damage instead of 30, and I want to know how much that helps me exactly.

    Thanks for update

    According to that same thread though weapon upgrades (by which I mean the Level I, II, III you get from the buildings) are currently ignored due to a bug in the game.

    Updated for Patch 7 beta - all ranged units damage and ranges fixed, club damage fixed, added melee weapon reach/length

    You can now mouse over melee weapon names to see which units use that weapon.

    Added Shields tab, which lists the defence, armour and missile block % for each shield - will try to add mouse over unit info for shields if/when I find the time.

    Updated for Patch 8 -

    a new anti-cav version of the celtic spear has been added. The bonus vs cav of the old celtic spears has been reduced, and the new anti-cav spear has a higher bonus vs cav than normal spears, but has a slightly lower base damage.

    Axe damage increased from 16/16 to 18/18

    Shortsword damage boosted from 4/12 to 4/20 - this is a SIGNIFICANT boost to many cheap units, equating to over 50% extra damage against low armour enemies
