not trying to start more flaming, im actually very much enjoying rome 2. but he does say some things that i think CA, and game devs in general, should hear. There does seem to be some major features that were intended to be much more complex/interesting that were dumbed down at release (the political system for example)mods, please delete if this is already posted somewhere

In the official forum, mods are moving every thread about this article to an obscure part of the forum, so no one can see it. I hope that mods in TWC will not to the same.

ya, thats where i found this. I wasn't going to post it here until they instantly moved that thread to Rants and Raves. censorship of constructive critiques is not how improvement is made

This is exactly what happened to me to. Ironman3112 here as well as on the official forum, oh well though, not much we can do about it.

boicote, that is why I don't use the official forums. when I realized it is just another extension of their marketing department. they want to control what you read and discuss, that renders the entire official forum moot.

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

ahahaha, Siven I saw your post and also made a comment of my own. Heck my comment I felt was pretty tame and innocuous. But nooooooooooooo "You have received an infraction at Total War forums - official forums of the Total War series"

I couldn't resist saying something back to him via PM. I'm a grown woman with a senior level job and it's all I can do not to get dragged into a pointless argument ... I'm not going there, I have more character ... but my word I had to say *something.*

Hey man, I can respect you, your position and what you are trying to do by keeping a level of calm and control on the forums. And while I understand that having the masses question your every move would be counter productive and unruly, it doesn't make every decision that is made to be a right decision. You can hide behind whatever terms & conditions you want to wave around, but ultimately they boil down to: Don't question me, because my word is law. And that's cool and everything, but it's not exactly the way to lead people to the truth. You're missing an opportunity to lead and are instead waving around a rulebook. You've got your style, I can dig it, but as styles go it's kinda iffy.

I know, right? And I know that these moderators are grown guys and should have a thick skin as well. Your post was in no way an attack and it could have been completely ignored. *shakes head*

pfah, now we know why Rome 2 came out the way it did. Metacritic obsessed retards. That Heaton person should never be allowed in game dev ever again.

on the contrary he did an excellent job of dupeing 2 million people into buying the unfinished mess that was released. according to them only 2% experienced any technical difficulties...

I think that's being misquoted. The 2% were those who initially couldn't even play the game after they downloaded, that it seems is a Steam statistic easily compiled.

The fact is the game was playable, as long as you had an Intel quad CPU. I'm playing it on a quad core 2. Checking task manager on the Campaign map, I see core 0 chockers, and the other 3 cores at 50 to 60% usage. In other words this game is not suited to duo core and should have advertised a minimum spec of quad core and it should have optimized for quad. What could play Shogun2 was no guide since that only utilized a single core.

The only other complaint I could have is it quite obvious the game released was a beta and and an unfinished work at that With content scrapped that couldn't make the release date. However except for the lagginess, it's a good game. People who are trying to play this game on an i3 need to go to the computer flea market and get a quad i5 suitable for their mobo. A good place to go is your local computer repairman who will have S/H and aftermarket i5's for an agreeable price.

The campaign map is larger and more information intense than any previous release by a large margin. It will take powerful hardware to play the game well.
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

"Certainly some elements of a team -- and this always happens with every team I've ever worked with -- just go, 'Come on, just give me a game design document. Just tell me what I need to do and then I will do it to the best of my ability.' And we slowly, hopefully, educate people that's just not the best way."

There are no words to describe how much this statement pisses me off.

Indeed, and Jack, Will, and all the CA guys on this forum, if you had to experience this, I'm very sorry for you, you have my simpathy and support, that is no way to treat people nor to create great games. Tim Heaton sounded like a very rude and obnoxious person there.
"Just forget your creativity and genius guys, we need a 90% score, who cares if we make some crap you'll be ashamed of forever."

Damn, I'm really sorry, it must be really hard to work there for some people.

There is something very depressing but absolutely inevitable about this. The games industry has got bigger and bigger; just look at the GTA 5 sales records. This kind of money was always going to attract a greater level of management in the industry. These managers will look at ways to maximise profits (after all that is their job) and crappy business practices ensue. From their point of view they do increase their profits, but we get a worse game as a result.

The guys from the official forum are members here too.
It is much stricter over there and they do not allow Religion or politics threads to be made as it could harm the company.
It is owned by Total War so they are going to be stricter than here.
