given the length of battles, units become exhausted when theres still like 95% alive on both sides, then they just do 0 damage to eachother.
is there anyway to change how fast things tire out?

What about using guard mode, instead of directly start fighting and tiring out the own troops...
Troops in battle can tire very quickly - but also remember that one of the major advantages of the decent length of battles now is also that you can not only keep reserves who are fresh and thus have greater impact, but that you should also, and are able to, manage your men better and rest them in between combats.
It's certainly the most realistic I have ever seen - the main reason to love it!

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.
I like the battle length it is indeed more realistic; but i wish a unit of men wouldnt tire so fast considering in reality only the first row is fighting and the others in the back should be fresh.
The longer battles does make cavalry even more overpowered in the hands of the player tho, not only do u get more flanks charges off they also dont die in the
Process of pulling back to recharge. I actualy think cavalry should tire faster to balance this while infantey shouls tire slower
Fatigue is one of the conditions for a unit to be able to rout. By changing it you might make it more letal but also probably less prone to routing.

I find extreme glee in sending fresh legionaries into the back of exhausted enemy.
I like pie.
And that it's just the way to do it. And the extreme pleasure of watching a unit rout as you throw a Pilum voley into their backs...priceless.

playing on H/H as rome, i must say that, since roman infantry's melee damage is low to start, with +4 defense for the enemy, my infantry's melee damage is pretty much nonexistant, they are basically a wall to hold the enemy while i throw pila into their side and or charge them from the back... the fact that things become tired so quickly i might as well have them go afk in guard mode... 95% of the damage i do with battle difficulty on hard comes from cavalry... and this is a not so cavalryish faction like rome, i can't imagine if i'm playing a faction that starts with cataphracts or something... the damage from my infantry, which does make up 70%+ of my army is totally ignorable =\
on the upside this does make the effects of training and discipline more pronouced, i had previously felt barbarian auxiliaries were much better than my legions when i compare stats/cost, but they definitely tire out faster and havemorale. as legions tire slower and will pretty much fight to the last 10 guys as long as my general isn't dead. it looks much better balanced this way.
maybe its time to try lethality mod.
all in all cavalry is still way too good in the hands of the player... and it is pretty much your only hope when battle difficulty is on hard, i wish cavalry would tire out faster to balance them more
Cavalry is good because you have infantry to pin the AI in place. Else it gets slaughtered. But my point is that removing or reducing fatigue might work in increasing damage but it will also make units less prone to rout thus increasing the battle grind and not reducing it.
