    Default An interesting little story......

I was just on myspace earlier and I saw this. I read though it, and i thought i could post it here and see what other people think of it, if they have seen iit before. I wont say much about it, but the first thing that came into my mind after I read this was 'Is this story even real? There is a chance it could be made up, considering the fact about how simpley it seemed to be written and how there was no soucre of the story'.

Well here's the article. Thoughts anyone?

    ________________________________________

A teenage girl about 17 had gone to visit
    some friends one
    evening
and time passed quickly as each shared
    their
various experiences of the past year.

She ended up staying longer than
    planned,
    and
had to walk home alone. She wasn't
    afraid
because it was a small town and she lived
    only
    a
    few blocks away.

As she walked along under the tall elm
    trees,
Diane asked God to keep her safe from
    harm
    and
    danger.

When she reached the alley, which was a
    short
cut to her house, she decided to take it.

However, halfway down the alley she
    noticed
    a
man standing at the end as though he
    were
    waiting
    for her.

She became uneasy and began to pray,
    asking
    for
    God's protection.

Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness
    and
security wrapped round her, she felt as
    though
    someone was walking with her.

When she reached the end of the alley,
    she
walked right past the man and arrived
    home
    safely.

The following day, she read in the
    newspaper
    that
a young girl had been raped in the same
    alley
    just
twenty minutes after she had been there.

Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and
    the
    fact
that it could have been her, she began to
    weep.

Thanking the Lord for her safety and to
    help
    this
young woman, she decided to go to the
    police
    station.

She felt she could recognize the man, so
    she
    told
    them her story.

The police asked her if she would be
    willing to
    look
at a lineup to see if she could identify
    him.

She agreed and immediately pointed out
    the
    man
she had seen in the alley the night
    before.

When the man was told he had been
    identified,
    he
    immediately broke down and confessed.

The officer thanked Diane for her bravery
    and
asked if there was anything they could do
    for
    her.

She asked if they would ask the man one
    question.

Diane was curious as to why he had not
    attacked
    her.

When the policeman asked him, he
    answered, "Because she wasn't alone.
    She
    had
two tall men walking on either side of
    her."

Amazingly, whether you believe or not,
    you're
never alone. Did you know that 98% of
    teenagers
will not stand up for God?

I wouldn't be surprised if its real.

The Rapist, being partially insane, probably hallucinated.
Given any number of random, even contradictory metaphysical postulates, a justification, however absurd, can be logically developed.

The only part of the story that's not too far-fetched.

I don't know. A natural response would have been to 1) Not take the dark alley at that time of day or 2) Turn around and get out of the alley and run away, when you see the guy standing all the way at the end of the alley.

the fact remains that would never happen in real life and if it was reality that girl would have been raped.

I don't like to walk in dark alleys alone at night myself, and I'm a pretty tall and strong guy.
What a teenage girl was doing walking through the alley, especially when she saw someone she suspected to be a rapist at the other end, is something I don't get.
And what are the odds of finding a serial rapist in a small town?

Maybe the girl was fat and ugly and the dude mistakened her excess body fat to be two guys walking with her

Of course it isn't real, on myspace there is always creative stories as such being posted for attention.

Never the less, it does make me wonder as to why there were two tall men walking beside her rather than one. Sure, father and son, but none the less, that is the same as father and father, since Jesus is God. If God was on earth with her, than has he was surrenduring his omnipresence, no? What is the relevance of God and Jesus both walking beside her if all together, they create God, the holy spirit.

On a different note, because the girl prayed and bid her faith towards the lord, another innocent victim was killed in her place? Was this a mockery from God that because she prayed, she got to live, but the next passing girl was to die?

It depends. From my experiences in small towns it would just depend on who knows who and in small towns (at least the small towns in Texas) everyone knows everyone else so if something happens there are always good suspicions. My uncle and great uncle were killed in a small town here in Texas and everyone knew who it was when they heard. The sheriff who found their bodies went right to the guy's house and the guy gave up right at his door.

However, why a girl would keep going down an alley when seeing a man at the other end perplexes me. Stupid girl.

Well I assume it was in Georgia (US).

Yeah, no matter what I would never walk through an alley praying that I would be safe from that scary guy in the corner. I would just run the other way, take the long way around and get some exercise.

Hmmm...I wonder how that guy would react if the girl picked up a stick or something and started running at him while doing a war cry of sorts like some sort of fanatic warrior woman.

    You mean screeching women.

Yes I know, I see it a lot, but my freind seemed a bit more serious about this one in particular.

On a different note, because the girl prayed and bid her faith towards the lord, another innocent victim was killed in her place? Was this a mockery from God that because she prayed, she got to live, but the next passing girl was to die?
It just says that she got raped, not killed. But regardless of that you bring up a good point...

Those are the Germanian Screeching Women in RTW :tooth: But if she did that I bet the guy would be runnning.

EDIT: So Walrus beat me to the screeching women part....well i thought of it first!

    As i got to the middle of the story i was already very sceptical that the story was true because it was delving way too much on the girl's emotions and had a feel that already this was a story with specifically made to hide some type of lesson or moral. As i finished the story i pretty much knew that it was fake. then i read the last part;

PS: God is always there in your heart and loves you no matter what....
After catching that last P.S. and that 98% of teens jab, i was now positive that this story was made up.

Also, i found it amusing that in the story God would save one girl and sacrifice another really if you think about it, simply on a whim. I guess the writers had a wierd way of thinking when trying to promote God's benevolence.
If God were a man he'd be me.

At first i simply observed. But i found that without investment in others, life serves no purpose.

So why the "two tall men" didn't beat up the rapist and thus prevent the rape of the second girl?

Oh sorry I forgot, He works in mysterious ways. (and probably the second girl was an atheist slut anyway...)

I would refrain from trying to provide evidence of the effectiveness of prayer, if any can exist (You will not tempt the Lord thy God). Besides, im my experience, the best effect of prayer, like that of meditation, is internal.

I am not saying that God doesn't listen. Yet I do say that it is impossible to tell if, when, how and why He does, thus the whole thing is somewhat pointless.

You know, two weeks ago, my mother - a very Sufi-sunni muslim - told me this very same story that supposedly came from a California news source. The difference was that the girl in question was a muslim girl, and she was with two other friends when they got abducted. Leaving the muslim gal for last, the rapist did his .... 'work' with the other. The muslim girl prayed n' prayed and when the guy got up for the final stretch, he didn't because he believed there were two guys in white standing next the girl protecting her.

The internet is certainly hilarious with the amount of stories that can spread around. I'm rather interested to find the source of these of 'God-fearing girl is saved from a rapist' stories. It's most probably made up of course, but it might have some truth to it.

I'm off to scour the net.

I have to say, I get scared silly by dark foreboding alleys with frightening men lurking in them, and I'm a reasonably fit young man. This story sounds somewhat apocryphal - I don't believe that a teenage girl would willingly walk into that sort of place. I agree with the general gist of the tale, that God is always with us, but the details of the story seem a little too far-fetched, frankly.

I was once walking down a dark alley and saw a large she-male awaiting to rape my sweet buttocks. But I prayed to Allah for help and to save me from her/his lustful intents. Lo Behold two winged Genies appeared on both my shoulders and said doth unto me "Worry not ye faithful follower of Allah, we will smote this heathen". And the Genies of the Lord defended me and promptly castrated the demon/transvestite and thus prevented him/her from having his/her way with my sweet man cheeks.

Therefore believe in Allah and his transvestite-slaying Genies. Or doth will ye deny this undeniable parable and miracle?
