Default Battles entities and other tables name sensitive. Bad news for modding. INCOMPATIBILTY

I have been testing changes in battle_entities table, but I had previously changed its name to battle_entities_naval, as I was only going to work with ship. But I have seen that the game is table name sensitive with this table, so if I change its vanilla name by other the changes do not show when playing, and I suspect that is name sensitive with campaign _variables table too. If this is confirmed it is not helping the modding. Can any of you confirm this by testing? If so we team work will be more difficult as we wont be able to work at the same time but wait untill others have ended to start making our changes. Mods will be more incompatible than before.

    CA, can you change this?

Edited: I confirm what is said some post below, movie type does not solve the problem.

List of tables which you cannot change the name:

    battle_entities

    building_effetcs_junction

    campaign_variables

    main_units

    ....

So far these are very important files so most of the mods can end being incompatible.

I can confirm that the old way or adding a prefix, for example, to the table does not work with Rome II. I've tried several tables, last being building_units_allowed and it did not work. So it's the whole table, or nothing. I reckon it is because of the new DB system where some files start with a uniform value, like naval_units where every line starts with 2500. If ship name had been the first identifier it would be another matter. So yeah, it'd be nice if CA did something as it would help modding a lot.

Hey reading your post did you guys put a beginning to it like mynew_battle_entities, I know that when you do that it works.

It seems to depend on the table. I noted recently that building_effects_junction can't be changed, only replaced. However, I know that it's possible to add units with only the new lines. Does anyone know for sure whether vanilla tables need to be replaced (and new entries do not have that restriction)?

I had heard about that from several people and asked Jack about it: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post13247107
I did send him an example set of packs now, we'll have to see what they come up with.
i'm sure if you guys find out more info (like that it only happens with specific tables and which ones) that'll help them investigate.

    EDIT:
oh and the guy who was providing me with the test packs I sent Jack said they worked when they were of type Movie but not of type Mod with an entry in the script file.

I only use Movie type, and prefix like zw_building_units_allowed and it doesn't work though.

So, how can I then change the size of elephants? I was told that "battle_entites" column hight is the place to go, but what ever I did no change could be seen on the elephants in game. Any ideas?
