Default Modding Faction Traits for Mercs

I'm trying to add a faction trait similar to the one that Carthage has for cheaper mercenary upkeep.

I want to add similar traits to many other factions to allow for greater unit variety, as mercenaries will then have reasonable as opposed to prohibitive upkeep costs.

I've trolled through the forums already and there's no specific explanation on this.

I haven't modded heavily since MTW2 so apologies for my noobness!
This is my signature. Isn't it awesome?

You'll find the effect under the effects_bundles_to_effects_junctions_tables file. Under "rom_faction_trait_carthage" effect_bundle_key section look for the "rom_faction_trait_carthage_core_mercenaries" in the effect_key section. That is the effect you want to copy for the other factions you want to modify. You can easily do this by making a copy of that line and changing the effect_bundle_key to another of the ones you see there. The value obviously controls the strength of the effect.

Alternatively you can go into the main_units table and modify the upkeep of the mercenaries themselves. I personally think this is a more robust option as it doesn't remove some of the uniqueness of Carthage while making mercenaries cheap enough to be used by anyone but Carthage.
