Default Does the game look better starting it from the hi-rez exe?

In the steam folder as opposed to the icon that steam places on your desktop? Was going thru this post at the official forums and am quite curious. "it started with my irritation over the low res start Icon so i used the start Icon from where i installed the game, i then could start up as an administrator with that new Icon, and like a flash from a clear sky my grapic looks like the ones ca showing of!!! im a happy man!!!!!!! i realy hope it works for more than just me, cause it looked awfull even though i have a quite good gaming rig. but now the textures are unbelievebly crisp. the blurryness is gone.

Hope it helps someone, i know i sounds weird but its easy to test!!!" http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...-is-what-i-did? Not sure how this would/should work so please take it with a grain of salt.

For me the difference was switching from shader model 5 in advanced graphics to 4.1. Prior to that it looked mushy.
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

Just go to your rome 2 dir and make a desktop shortcut to the actual rome2.exe.

Did not work for me. Still discolored unsharpened campaign map, what a bummer.

I would say there's no way this could be possible..i mean there's only one exe, every shortcut points to it.

At this point i wouldn't put it past CA to pull something like this off though.
